Camila had been feeling kind of...well, she's not entirely sure how she feels, but the best she could describe it is that she feels sad. Her neighbor hadn't said a word to her since Friday night. Lauren holed herself up in her room the rest of the weekend, so Camila didn't have a chance to see her after what transpired between the two of them. The cheerleader knew that she shouldn't have pushed things that far with Lauren, considering the girl hadn't had her first kiss until that night, but there was nothing she could do to change it now.
The younger girl was waiting in her car. She wanted to give the older girl a ride to school, since she knew Lauren usually walked; she didn't want the girl to have to walk all the way to school in the cold, but selfishly she also wanted a chance to talk to the hockey player about what happened over the weekend. Besides, lately Lauren had been catching rides with her a few days a week, and Mondays was usually one of them. A few more minutes had passed, so Camila looked at her phone and saw the time. Lauren should've been out here by now. The cheerleader knew Lauren's schedule like the back of her hand, the older girl was predictable like that, so the fact that the hockey player was late coming out, Camila knew that Lauren didn't want a ride.
Camila: Are you coming, Lo? I'm waiting outside.
Lauren was in her room getting her backpack together. She had felt a little bad that she ignored Camila the rest of the weekend, but she didn't want to make the situation any harder on herself. She double checked that she packed her homework up before slinging the bag over her shoulders. She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out and read the text before ignoring it and putting her phone back in her pocket. She knew why Camila was asking...because it was Monday and they usually rode to school together on Mondays.
The hockey player adjusted her jacket and walked downstairs to get her shoes. She was purposefully delaying her routine that morning, knowing that Camila hated to be late. Lauren hoped that if she delayed herself for long enough, the cheerleader would leave without her. She took her time getting on her shoes before grabbing her keys and heading out the door.
Lauren started to walk down the driveway, and as she did, she looked over and saw Camila sitting in her car. The cheerleader was obviously waiting for Lauren, like she had been expecting. Lauren just shook her head to herself as she looked at the girl. She could tell that Camila wanted her to ride to school with her, especially since Lauren would ride with the girl on Mondays and Thursdays, but she couldn't. Not today. Lauren put her hands into her coat pockets and started walking in the direction of the school.
Camila saw Lauren leave the house and frowned as she started to walk the other way. What the hell? She knew that Lauren saw her and Lauren always rode with her on Mondays. Camila hated that Lauren was upset with her to the point that she would break their routine. She sighed and backed out of the driveway before driving slowly down their neighborhood roads. She rolled down the passenger window, "Are you mad at me or something? Come on. It's cold. Get in the car before you get sick." She looked at her again and shook her head. "Lauren, please. Get in the car."
The older girl was unfazed by Camila telling her to get in the car because of the cold. She was used to walking to school in the cold. It honestly didn't bother her at all. She had done it for two years until Camila offered to drive her on the days she didn't have practice after school. She ignored the cheerleader as she yelled out the window. She glanced over at the girl's car and shook her head, "I'm fine." She said as she kept walking toward the school. She shoved her hands in her pocket and looked straight ahead. She knew that Camila wouldn't drive along side her like that the whole way...she just hoped if she ignored the girl long enough she would just leave.
