Intro:.
Kenzie.
I pushed my house key in the door and twisted to the left unlocking my front door. Pushing the door open and stepping in I was greeted by my parents and my little sister and they had a big smiles plastered on their faces.
"Uhh, hi guys what's going on?" I said putting my stuff down on the couch.
"look what came in the mail today!" my mother squeeled and handed me a big orange envelope.
I took it from out of her hands."whats this?" I asked before reading the adress on the envelope.
"Oh my god Kenzie,read! And your supposed to be the smart one?" my little sister, nasia said huffing.
"Aye cut it out nasia!" my dad said making Kenzie roll her eyes. " now mackenzie sweetie, that right there is a letter from NYU"
"NYU?!!" My whole heart stoped. I've always dreamed of going to NYU since I was 8 and I work my butt off in school just to make sure i'd be able to get in. I sent in my application to them like a month ago and now it was finally the moment of truth.
My hands started to shake from all the nervousnessI could barley get the envople open.
"baby relax, no mater what that letter says there will be other great schools!" my mom said trying to calm me down. It didn't work. This is my whole future right here in my hands. This is it.
I slid my finger inbetween to where the two sides meet and I tore it open. Before pulling out the paper and reading it I took a deep breath. In and out. I slid out the paper and read it:
'Congratulations! We are happy to inform you that you have been accepted to join us here at New York University. On behalf of dean Conrad we welcome you to our family...'
"Oh..My...sweet...Jesus! I GOT IN!' I began jumping up and down with excitement. This had to be the best day of my life!
" OM MY GOD BABY!" my mom joined me and started started to cry.
" my little girl is going to college! Come give daddy a hug" my dad said opening his arms.
"Aww daddy!" I wrapped my arms around him and he gave me a gigantic bear hug.
" Soooo, does this mean I can have your room?" nasia asked ruining a perfect moment.
"really nasia?"
She shrugged. I laughed and pulled her in for a hug. " you know you'll be opening acceptance letters next year too!"
"Yea, your right! You know what, you can keep your room cause I won't be here much longer!" she said as-a-mater-of-factly.
" Both of my babies are leaving me!" my mom began to cry harder.
"Oh Denise quit it! Nasia's 17 and Kenzie is 18, they are growing up you got to realize that baby!" my dad said trying to calm her down. Geesh my mother could be so dramatic at times. Now I see where nasia gets it.
"oh hush up Jeff! You won't be saying that when you find out that they're having sex!"My dads whole facial expression changed.
"You girls are haing sex!" he sounded surprised, hurt, and confussed all at the same time.
" NOO daddy! I am NOT having sex! I dont know What mom is talking about" she said shooting my mom a look.
"yea dad no ones having sex" I said grabbing his shoulders and shaking him.
"you better not be lying to me!"
"promise daddy!" nasia said kissing him on the cheek. He looked at me.
