The Nightmare Man

Chapter 1

"This is so dumb why did I agree to this?" I say was me and my five other friends step out of the car and make our way to the abandoned hospital.  "You agreed because we said we'd give you pizza afterward." Daniel said looking back at me and wiggling his eyebrows at me. I rolled my eyes and huffed in annoyance. "Yeah. The best way to get you to do anything is bribe you with food." Tori said tossing her arm around my shoulders smiling at me her bright red hair blowing in the wind I sigh "Don't remind me." I grumble and the rest of my friends laugh merrily like we're taking a stroll through a park and not trespassing. We stop in front of the chain link fence and Trever gives the chain a pull before dropping it. "They actually locked it this time." He says a frown on his face Michael looks at his watch "well its 11:22 be have to get in before midnight or it won't work." He says crossing his arms "I think there's a hole in the back." Zoey says playing with a strand of her blonde hair. They nod and we all walk around  the side to the back and see that Zoey is right. Daniel pulls back one the hole to make it a little wider "ok Tori go on." He says nodding his head  she crouches down and crawls through the hole then Michael then me and then Zoey and then Trever then lastly Daniel. We walk up the the window we would have to climb through.

Michael climbs through first and then Daniel and Trever give us girls a boost to reach the window and soon we're all inside wandering around looking for a wooden door. We found one and all took a seat infront of it. Tori pulls the backpack off of her back and opens it she hands us each a piece of paper, a pen, a candle, a needle, and a container of salt. "Ok does everyone remember the rules?" Tori asks and we all nod "everyone have a lighter?" She asks and we all nod taking out said object  "ok Michael what time is it?" She asks "umm it's 11:53." He says checking his watch "okay everyone you know what to do." She says and we start I sigh a little at the ridiculousness of this whole thing but start anyway I write my full name on the piece of paper Hannah Faith Stewart I set the pen down and take the needle and stick my finger flinching at the sharp pain I squeezed my finger and let the blood drop onto the paper and watched as it soaked in I wiped my hand on my jeans and light my candle I look at my friends and see everyone's done we lean towards the door and knock 22 times Michael making sure our last knock lands at midnight Tori opens the door we blow out the candles then she closes it and we immediately relight our candles and stand "alright remember everyone the games over at 3:33." Tori reminds us and we all walk off in different directions in the hospital I had my lighter in one hand and salt in my pocket.

It was dark and slightly musty smelling from being closed for so long. The candle gave a dim glow for light it cast weird shadows on the left behind objects a gurney lay turned over in one hall. I sigh this was so stupid Tori always found some dumb thing to do from playing with Ouija board to exploring abandoned and supposedly haunted buildings. This time she had been surfing the web before coming some game where you invoke some thing called the nightmare man. It was stupid and probably wouldn't work I stopped as I saw movement out of the corner of my eyes and turn to look down the dark hallway I don't see anything and but I chill runs down my spine before my candle goes out I start counting as I flick my lighter and relight my candle it to eight seconds to relight I hear something scuttle away to my right and my heart beats faster and a black shape darts away from me around the corner " what the fuck was that." I whisper to myself "what was what?" A deep voice says from behind me I scream and turn around to see Trever's laughing face behind me "what the hell are you a ninja or something?" Yell at his frustrated he just laughs at me his blue eye glinting in the light of our candles "my bad I thought you heard me walk up." He says as he looks behind me squinting into the dark "let's uh go back this way." He says grabbing my arm and turning me back in the direction we came we were silent as we walked  "anything uh anything weird  happen to you?" I finally ask him as we walk he nods slowly "I saw something earlier I though it was Michael or Daniel  but the it got closer and I saw it had...." He trailed off looking down a dark hallway we passed " it had what?" I asked him he bit his lip before sighing "horns" He finally said before looking away from me. My jaw dropped in shock horns what the fuck did Tori get us into I think as Trever opens a door and looks inside we walk in together and look in the drawers the were mostly empty just a few random papers then we exit the room and continue our walk  its getting colder I can actually see my breath then both of our candles go out I start counting it took me five seconds but Trever was still struggling I hear a scraping noise from behind me "shit" Trever curses "ten" I say out loud he drops his lighter and makes a circle of salt around him and the scraping get closer then suddenly stops we both sigh in relief "you have to get out of here find one of the others we have another hour or so in here." He tells me "but what about you?" I asks as my heart is beating a mile a minute "I'll be fine I'll just stay in the salt circle now go." He says glancing behind me I nod and quickly walk away making a right down a new hallway. This 'game' is getting ridiculous I think and I search for my other friends "Hannah!" I hear someone shout in the room I just past I pause and back track looking in and see Tori sighting on a salt circle tears running down her face "oh my gosh" I say walking up to her and kneeling in front of her she was distraught "what happened?" I ask her careful not to disturb the salt "he took he took he took." She stuttered through her sobs " calm down Tori who took what?"  I say to her "he took Daniel, the nightmare man took Daniel." She whispered her body visibly shaking in fear " he was screaming so loud Hannah then it just stopped." She said tugging at her hair " this wasn't supposed to happen. This was supposed to be harmless now Daniel could be dead because of me." She said crying harder and rocking back and forth I was in shock  Daniel had been taken this was getting out of hand "I'm going to try and find him and the others stay in the salt circle." I tell her and she nods wiping her face trying to get her breathing under control as I walk out of the room to hopefully find Michael , Daniel, and zoey. I hear a scream it was definitely Zoey I jog slowly to keep my candle lit and round the corner to see Zoey staring at something in front of her "Zoey." I say and she turns to me slowly I see tears rolling down her face in the glow of her candle I walk closer to her and that's when I see it the blood "oh gosh." I say its Daniel he laid across the floor the stomach is torn open and his organs are tossed around the floor and hanging out of his body there was blood every where I feel sick my stomach is churning violently and I gag as I turn away from the sick scene in front of me. I grab Zoey's arm  and drag her away from him " I continue to dry heave as we round the corner " we have to find Michael." I say breathing deeply she nods wiping her face of tears "w-w-what about Tori and Trever?" She asks "I already know where they are and they're stuck in a salt circle." I say pulling her along when suddenly both our candles go out she screams and I start counting and light my candle sic seconds and she lights her right after me at eight seconds. "Let's go find Michael." I say as we walk off.
