Chapter 1

* Hey people! this is a book that I decided to make. It's gonna be very romancy and filled with drama so I hope you enjoy! If you Like or hate it let me know! Much Love! ♥ *

I clenched my thin jacket closer to me, still unable to kick off the chill of the night. It was a beautiful clear sky with a radiant full moon. I hurriedly walked down the empty streets of this country side, getting my shoes stuck in the mud along the way.

I couldn't choke down the lump in my throat as I fiercely tried to fight back my already forming tears. It was about 40 degrees that night and I was dressed in a thin blue tank top, low cut black skinny jeans, a thin navy blue jacket, and some black sneakers. I had my back pack and my ipod with some spare change to get me to no where. Why would I be in this type of weather? Let me explain.

"I told you to shut the hell up!" a crash of broken glass follow this yell. I blasted my Ipod and tried to drown out his screaming with Deftones song Be Quiet and Drive (far away). That was my mothers' boyfriend Greg. She met him through Myspace (go figure) and she actually thought this one was going to be the one. Little did she know he was more abusive then the others.

"Baby please it's not what it seems! He's just a friend I swea-", a loud slapping sound echoed throughout the small beat up apartment.

"Not another word you little Bitch" He growled at her as the beating sounds continued. No matter how loud the head phones were I couldn't get the sounds to go away. I fought the tears and grabbed the bat that was under my bed. Gripping it firmly within my hands I ran out of my room and busted into theirs.

I was taken aback by the scene and faltered in my step. My mother was on the bed with her shirt ripped open and blood gushing down her disarranged face. I'd never seen anyone hurt her this bad before.

Caught by surprise it didn't register that Greg and made a move towards me. The next thing I knew he wielded the bat in his hand and pressed it against my neck. My throat caught and I couldn't speak.

"So Amy, you want to leave me? Fine go on ahead. I'll just have fun bangin your sweet little daughter instead." His face edged closer and my eyes got huge. Who the hell did he think he was??! I'd die before I gave my virginity up to him!

"Greg no! Leave Kyree out of this! She's done noth-" My mothers words were cut short as Greg turned and bashed her head with the bat at full speed. There was a loud crack of the bat connected with her skull as a shower of blood flew out. A loud screaming echoed throughout the room. All I could think was I had to save her, I had to do something to keep her safe. And what the hell was the screaming? Shut it up! Stop screaming!

Greg's hand flew over my mouth and I realized that noise was me. I was shaking convulsively and I couldn't breathe. All I saw was the blood stained bat in his hands.

"Shut the hell up!" He growled throwing me onto the bed. Everything went black as I drifted in the serene like daze. I heard fuzzy noises that made no sense and I kept seeing these blue and red flashing lights. A violent shake snapped me out of my daze with wide eyes.

"Mam Are you alright?" a husky young police officer was holding me up right outside of my apartments. He had strikingly beautiful emerald green eyes with flecks of gold. His Lightly tanned face was scattered with freckles and his vibrantly red curly hair almost covered his eyes. He had a strong jaw and strikingly beautiful features with his muscular build.

I gave him a puzzled look as I looked around to see police cars and an ambulance surrounding my house. The neighbors were outside their homes and looking with gruesome faces. What was happening? Just a second ago I was inside with my mom and psycho Greg. Now this?

"Hey look at me" his strong hands gripped my chin and turned my attention towards him.

"Sorry yes I'm fine," I finally responded trying to remember everything. I looked over the ambulance and spotted two stretchers. They were both body bags. I felt my head grow dizzy and my stomach twist as I saw this. The officer glanced at me oddly and followed my gaze and inhaled sharply.

"I'm sorry Mam but they didn't make it. The lady bled to death......" His voice started to get far away as I felt my body grow weak. My mom dead? Amy Lee Curtis, gone? Never coming back.

"I felt a violent up heave as I bent to the side and threw up into the grass. I could feel strong hands holding me steady and pulling my hair back. After it was all done the tears overwhelmed me and the sobs escaped me lips without consent. My chest caved in and all I felt was this pain. My mother was dead.

I don't remember what really happened after that. The police officer (who's name I later found out was Chance Reed) helped me and was at the funeral with me. But everything else was pretty much a blur.

I was sent to a foster home since I was only 16 and still a minor. The people there were kind and loving but I just couldn't take it. So I ran away. With nothing but the clothes on my back and the "essentials" in my back pack.

That happened 6 months ago. I've been a stray walker ever since. Finding ways to keep alive and forgetting the past completely.

I kept walking in this country and found a barn a little farther down the road. It was a nice barn that was rather clean but empty. I picked the lock and got into the barn with ease. I fumbled for a flashlight and finally found one and shined it around. Empty and clean just like I liked it! Hay and other objects I couldn't make out littered the floor as I set up camp. Wood shavings maybe? I set my stuff down and did some searching for a place to take a nice shower. Shining the light I ventured out of the barn and hiked into a forest like wood. I could hear the running water as I entered it and started venturing through. In no time I was at a beyond beautiful clearing. The moon shone beautifully on an open lake that had the forest on the other side. It was a small pond with vibrant colors even at night. Fireflies scattered the area and the stars twinkled as if playing a song.

I inhaled deeply taken aback by the view. I didn't know something this beautiful honestly existed!

After I got out of my dazed I began to strip my clothes off and I slid into the lake letting the hot water lap over all my body. Wow that's highly strange that the water would be hot and not cold! It's freezing out there! I let myself soak there for what seemed like hours before I began to wash my clothes in the stream. After I hung them on the trees I dried myself with a drying towel that I stole from some people at a laundry mat. What I gotta keep warm too!

I started to sing Kings of Convenience song Cayman Island and sway with the imaginary music as I wringed my clothes out.

"If only they could see, If only they had been there," I spun around and looked as I heard a new voice sing with mines. A tall silhouette was slouched against a tree a few yards away from me. I backed up and covered my exposed body.
