The world did not end in a bang, or a whisper. But rather, one scream at a time.
As the Canishian Virus spread from one end of the planet to the next, doctors scrambled to find a cure. For those of you who are not familiar with the Canishian Virus, it acts like an everyday cold and is spread through physical contact with an infected person. It affects the brain and causes a complete shutdown at the last stage. As the virus progresses, you will notice a person to get paler or a lack of their concentration. At the last stage of the virus, the person will seem to have glazed over eyes, unresponsive to light or sounds, and very fast, short breathes. One doctor in particular was Dr. Sam Vanton.
Sam Vanton had seen everyone she had ever loved wiped away from the virus, she couldn't help but feel attached to the work on a cure. The virus had taken her family at a young age and she had been forced to live in foster care until she was 18. The young doctor started to work on a cure in the last family she had been fostered in. The Hamick's had been reasonable people, they never pushed her around or forced her to do things. They let her work for they understood how much it meant to her, since they had lost their son, Jace, when the virus first broke out.
Sam worked for months of that year with no or little progress on the disease. She trapped herself in the basement of the Hamick's house with tiny samples of the virus in her makeshift lab. Her foster parents were always worried that something would go wrong, that she would make the Canishian Virus worse than it was, but it never happened. Finally, on the day of her 18th birthday, she was finally able to make some progress. Some birthday present, huh?
