Childhood Relived

Our life is like a story, goes on page by page.

It has so many chapters, but childhood is the Golden age.

That is the life without worries, no tension, no dread,

Sleeping on the couch and waking up on the bed.

All we cared about was toys, games and play,

As the worry of studies had not yet come to slay.

No fretting over clothes, no need for phones,

The park was our castle, the swing our throne.

Dancing in the rain, making paper boats,

Whose boat sailed longer, could make us gloat.

Now that we are grown up and that time has gone,

We work from dawn to dusk, and dusk to dawn.

The child within us has been buried deep inside,

Its innocence has been replaced with malice and pride.

In our quest to rise higher and higher,

We have changed according to the world’s desire.

Come let’s make a change, let’s wake that child up again,

Let’s clean our heart and start again,

Be kind, be honest and smile some more,

Let us be children once more.
