„My name is Agnes Alexander." a young women states, starring blankly at the bare white wall across the table where she was sat at. Her eyes are still widened with shock because of what had just happened an hour ago, she struggles to answer the officers question as his voice seems so far away. The piercing sounds of sweeping tires and metal clashing against metal still ringing in her ear.
„Miss Alexander!" Startled she looks at the officer, pushing a blood stained streak of blonde hair, out of her face and behind her ear.
„You do go by the name of Penny Lovette, don't you?" she nods.
„You have to say it out loud to me." he says pointing at a small black, rectangular device, that looks very much like a smartphone, but is in fact a voice recorder. „Do you go by the name of Penny Lovette?"
„Yes, Sir."
„Can you tell me what happened?"
She looks at her bandaged underarm. Tracing the corners of the bandage with her fingers she notices her nails, which she has done up so beautifully this afternoon, have now split and broken, the white nail varnish has flaked and a crust of dried blood and dirt now sits between her skin and nail.
„We were in the car and suddenly he just lost control."
„He."the officer repeated. „Is this Mr. Hardy you are referring to?"
„Yes."
„And you do not know what made him loose control of the vehicle?"
„No! I don't know! Everything happened so quickly."
By now tears are streaming down her face as she is trying to remember the exact events.
„Alright, we'll get back to that later." The officer who was sitting at the edge of the table before has now sat down right across from her.
„So tell me Miss Alexander, in what relation exactly did you stand with the victim Mr. Edward Thomas Hardy?"
Agnes got a phone call from her agency in the early evening on a Friday. Her bike had just been stolen once again at the Stadsbiblioteket, the city library of Malmø, and her boiler had broken the day before so she was in desperate need of money. She had only just taken up her studies again after a long pause, this time without the financial support of her parents who had decided not to contribute to her education any longer as she had quit University 18 months before. She was in a pretty bad state at that time due to so much going on in her life that she decided she couldn't put up with studying anymore. Instead she had gotten herself a job at a coffee store but it just didn't pay the bills.
As a teenager she dreamed of a career in modeling just like her twin sister Elsa. She remembered how she and Elsa begged her mother and father to let them attend a casting and after months of rejecting their wishes they finally gave in. On their way to Malmo Agnes and Elsa were sat in the back seat of their fathers Polo, trying out different braided hairstyles on each other and discussing the matter with such gravity as if their life depended on it, which at that moment in fact it did.
The casting went successful and both girls were signed to the model agency in Malmo. It didn't take long for the twins to get their first jobs as they were both the ultimate embodiment of what swedish girls should look like. Both, had long, soft, natural icy blonde hair and a pair of vibrant blue eyes. Cute freckles adorned their youthful faces and they both had soft pillows of pastel pink lips. Their cute little heads sat on tall, lean bodies one would kill for. They both looked almost identical except for Elsa, as a beauty spot embellished her upper lip, which set her apart from her sister, who therefore had the slightly bigger „assets".
