Just Silence

Poor Girl

"Ok thank you officer."
"No problem Sir. Just basic information." I smiled and he walked away. I walked back into the room and sat down, her eyes looking down to her feet and her fingers twitching. I started to talk to her and she didn't look at me just down at her feet that were now swinging and twitching as well.

She answered all my questions and it seemed as honest as possible but every time I said something she'll bite her lip before she answered...strange girl.
I walked her out to her bike and he had a pass code on it, unlocking it she waved at me and rode off and I went back inside and went back to the questioning room. I picked up my note pad and looked at the notes I so carefully took. Her story all did make sense yes but it didn't at the same time, neither did the murder scene.

A 10 year old girl that wasn't filed into the city or government as a person or wasn't even there before. No family, no background, no nothing. And the witness why was he out? Why was he at the same park? I thought back to when I talked to him last night;

"Thank you for your time tonight, but I have to ask questions."

"Yes of course.", He chuckled, "You wonder why I was out so late and you wonder why I was at the same exact park that the body was found right?" He cracked a smile. My heart pound and sweat dripped down my forehead in wonder and worry.

"What's wrong Detective? Was I correct?"

"Yes you were." I put on a serious tone.

"It's just basic questions so I'll just answer now then leave. I was walking to a friends house, I was passing by the house. Of course those are the basic questions. You just don't wanna ask the serious questions right now. But I'll answer them. Yes I was shocked, yes I did see the man walking by, yes I did see that girl, and yes I knew the body was Amber." He got up and went to leave. I tried to say something but I choked on my own saliva and air, he left. I tried to chase after him but he was gone. Just vanished.
