Ch. 16

Percy felt like he'd been asleep for days.

He hadn't had a sleep so deep and peaceful in so long he'd forgotten what it felt like to wake up after one. No terrible dreams from Gaea or any divine visitors to interrupt his rest was a very welcome change.

He took a deep breath and felt a smile creep onto his face as he inhaled the scent of Zoe's hair as she continued to sleep peacefully beside him.

Even after being out of the hunt for over three years, she still had that small hint of forest scent in her hair. It was a smell that always put him at ease.

He opened his eyes slowly before they went comically wide. Zoe was laying beside him, naked from the waist up and he had trouble forming actual thoughts in his head. She was on her back, her left arm laying across his chest.

The memories of the night before suddenly came back to him and he felt his heart start to race.

What they'd done the night before... Well, he'd be lying if he said he hadn't thought about it before. He'd thought about it a lot, actually.

Hey, he was eighteen years old, blame it on the hormones. And, his girlfriend was pretty damn hot. Those thoughts were inevitable.

He had trouble taking his eyes off her as she slept beside him. For the hundreds of times they'd made out, he'd never seen her topless. He was pleasantly surprised to find she wasn't lacking in chest. In fact, they seemed perfectly proportional to her body. Her small lithe body even made her look busty, but only just a bit. Not that he minded.

He lost all interest in getting up for the day, perfectly content to lay back and enjoy a rare moment of happiness for them.

And of course, because he was Percy Jackson, the moment was cut short.

He felt a surge of panic as he heard the nob of the door twist. He tried to reach for the blanket but couldn't reach it in time before in stepped the absolute last person he wanted it to be.

Coach Hedge took two steps into the room and then froze. He dropped the baseball bat in his hand and turned around as fast as he could.

The sound of his bat clunking off the floor made Zoe sit bolt upright. Her eyes landed on Coach Hedge as her face went cherry red as she grabbed the blanket and threw it over her body, hiding herself underneath and waiting for Percy to deal with the the situation.

"Mother of Zeus!" Hedge yelled. "I knew it! I knew you two were going to be a problem! That's it! Separate rooms for the rest..."

The stocky satyr was cut off when a hand clamped over his mouth. Percy grabbed him in a headlock and kept his mouth covered as he pulled the struggling satyr further into the room, careful to kick the door shut too.

Hedge bit down on his hand making Percy growl and recoil, losing his grip on their annoying chaperone.

"How dare you!" He looked like he was going to say more when Percy suddenly grabbed him by the windbreaker he was wearing and lifted the satyr right off the ground.

"PUT ME DOWN!"

Percy ignored him.

Bob, who had been sleeping on a pillow in the corner of the room was now up. He had grown into his full prehistoric predator form and stalked up towards the confrontation, crouched beside Percy's feet and looking at the satyr hungrily. He sensed Percy's mood and prepared to devour the creature causing his master so much anger. He let out a low growl and barred his huge fangs.

"If you speak again, I'm going to feed you to my cat. I'll tell the others you fell overboard and this will be over, nice and easy for me."

Hedge's eyes looked into the dark eyes of Percy and knew there was no bluff to his thread. Then he looked at Bob, who licked his lips, showcasing his razor sharp teeth, complete with huge canines.
