Why couldn't she have just died with them? Why did they take her little sister with them? Why her little sister and not her? Why put her in all this pain?
She doesn't know the answers.
But one thing she does know is that she's glad she ran away when she did. She's presumed dead by now, surely. Plus, she stole some hair dye from a shop and cut her hair. She also stole some contact lenses. So now she has purple hair and purple eyes. They were the only colours she could grab. So she didn't exactly mingle with the crowd, but at least no-one would recognise her.
