The Bad Boy's Valentines surprise

       

Oh great, it's almost that day again! Every year I get a bundle of disappointment whilst Nicole and every other women on the planet gets a bundle of roses and chocolates. I used to put on a brave face before, acting like I was perfectly happy on my own with my cookie dough ice cream, kit kats and the vow. That's right, I would've done the same this year too...again. Pssht! Not by myself! Not all alone, I meant a box of tissues and a whole load of junk! Counts right? I'm hoping this years a bit different you know, since I'm dating Cole. I'm thinking I should try and make an effort I mean we've never spoken about this, but I guess I should make it special. I already checked with the girls and it turns out they have plans. Alex is planning on taking Megan out for a romantic dinner and Travis and Beth well they planned a romantic getaway. I don't want to know exactly what they will be doing, especially if it entails them making use of that god awful corset. It's the 13th of February and Cole hasn't said a thing.

I wonder if he thinks Valentine's Day is just a sappy idea for stupid, cringe couples. I don't want to ask him if he's made any plans. Now that would be a little desperate...right? Okay...maybe a date to the movies or a nice restaurant would be nice. Think like Cole, Tessa. If he wanted to take me out, where would he take me? He's the fun sort, he'd probably end up taking me to the arcade and spending a fair amount there, I mean I like my competition and so does he. But since my parents are out of town again and Travis has plans, I guess the house would be empty. Cole and I will be alone, and he'll definitely enjoy that.

The next morning, I wake up to Valentine's Day or as I like to call it "I'm going to be alone again this year because my boyfriend seems to have forgotten that I exist." It's just the start of the day who knows what might come up. With a tiny bit of hope in my heart I check my phone and see messages from Beth and Megan on our group chat asking if they can come over to get ready at my house. I figure it would be fun since I'm all alone. Travis has woken up extra early and texted me saying he won't be back until the evening to pick up Beth, as he's still finalising for his romantic getaway.

I finally get out of bed, and leave my phone on charge after checking it, which leaves me in despair once again. I have a shower and slip on something that is both comfortable and hideous, but who cares? It's not like I have somewhere to rush to today. I walk my way down to the kitchen and make myself a refreshing smoothie, I'm tempted to add a Kit Kat because why the hell not? But I refrain. I watch friends for about two hours before I choose to clean up around the house since I've got nothing better to do. I carry on doing those mundane activities and decide to go back into my room. Before I know it, Megan and Beth arrive.

"Hey Tessa, we're here where are you?" shouts Beth at the top of her lungs.

"Hey guys, come on up" I shriek back at them. They enter my room with big smiles, I can feel the excitement they're feeling. Megan is holding 2 boxes: hair accessories in one and makeup in the other. Beth is holding three different dresses...Wait three dresses, why?

"Why do you have three dresses?" I ask out of curiosity, they look at each other in confusion.

"One for me and one for Beth, and the other one is for you?" Megan responds cheerily.

Do I have to tell them that Cole hasn't messaged me once? I don't know what to do.

Once Beth finishes Megan's makeup, I finish with curling Megan's fiery red hair, they start to notice that something isn't quite right with me. I should've known they would've noticed. They're my best friends.

"Tessa...what are you trying to hide?" Beth asks trying to figure out what's wrong.

"Nothing guys, I'm fine" I answer trying to hold the tears back. Beth and Megan stare at me and try and see if I react in an odd way.
