Valerie (Next Day After School)
I parked my car in front of Starbucks and walked in with my uniform and hat on to symbolize that I work here. I'm a barista here. The whole reason I started this job was to help out my mom. She does so much for us and I want to give her some money to show her how I appreciate her. It's hard taking care of two other lives by yourself.I greeted my manager and went behind the counter. I smoothed out my attire and tried to put on my brightest face. I'm a bit excited to spend time with my sister and mom after this, we're going to get ice cream. My mom's boyfriend is also coming over for dinner tomorrow, so I have to help clean around the house. He even gave my mom the most expensive and beautiful jewellery for her birthday last week, He's a great guy. His name is Jonathan.
"Hello, welcome to Starbucks. What can I get for you?" I asked two girls who only looked a year younger than me. One was a brunette with hazel eyes and the other was a red head with green eyes.
"I'll take a tall Java Chip Frappuccino with a cheese danish," informed the brunette while taking out the exact change out of her designer red purse.
"And I'll have a tall Cotton Candy Créme Frappuccino with a Chocolate Chunk Muffin," the red head claimed.
"Names please?"
"Jessica for the Java Chip and Hailey for the Cotton Candy," answered Hailey while getting the money for her drink.
I got all of the ingredients and supplies ready and got to work. I have to make sure it's perfect and they lust how it tastes since I'm a perfectionist. I don't want any bad reports and I want to make sure they come back. We can't take forever making these things, though. I have to go, go, go. I add the whipped cream to the top of both of them, while putting syrup on top of the brunette's. I also grabbed them two straws so they can relish their delicious goodness.
"Thank you. I hope enjoy."
"Sup, bitch," Emma hollered as she came walking in like a boss.
I playfully rolled my sky coloured eyes and giggled. "I still don't know how we became friends."
"Oh, yes you do."
Flashback
It was the first day of ninth grade, I was walking out of the lunch line with my plate full of spaghetti and meatballs. I was grabbing my silverware and turned around, abruptly bumping into someone. My plate spilled all over my clothes and it was an absolute disaster. The guy I bumped into howled with his popular athletic friends and so did a lot of other people eating their lunch. My eyes began to sting and my face turned beat red.To take the attention away from me, Emma pretended to fall while throwing her food up in the air, and landing in the trash can. Everyone pointed and laughed at her instead. Some took out their phones. I smiled and went over and helped her out. We got ourselves cleaned up and became the closest duo ever. I'm so glad I have Emma in my life. We've been best friends ever since.
Present
"I still can't believe you did that. That was so sweet of you. It was bit extra, though" I laughed hysterically."Just be grateful I even did that. I'm not necessarily the nicest person."
"Here you go," I hand Emma her favorite beverage, a vanilla bean frappuccino.
