It's almost 3 am which means it's time to make bad decisions and post my poetry to my entire follower base

BURNING YESTERYEAR

Yesteryear is still here,
After all these years and times.
It bites on my heart and grins on my lips.
Its kiss is disturbingly sweet.

It feasts on old friends and fun birthday parties from long ago,
Gobbling down memories like they were it's last hope.
It's scales ripple across my heart and I choke back a sob.
Yesteryear is still here.

Shifty dragon,
Sharp teeth leaving trembles down my legs.
It has its eye on the prize and it lunges.
I leave my place then and hide away in space.
Yesteryear is still here.

Sickness and revenge overcame me the other day.
As I drifted back down to Earth I hatched a plan.
Armed with nausea and lighter,
I set fire to yesteryear.

Screeching and guilt tripping,
Yesteryear did all it could.
Cradling it in my arms, I watched myself burn to ash and dust and smoke.
Yesteryear is here no more.
