For centuries the Medici family has been a household name in Italy, for good and for bad. Some fear them but many respect them, the Medici family is not one that was chosen by the king to be rich, they climbed their way to the top. They forged their golden thrones out of hard work, labor, friendship, blood, sweat and tears. To mess with a Medici was to declare yourself as dead, stand in their way and they will cut you down.
The patriarch of the family was one, Roberto Medici and he came from a long line of money. His ancestors had founded Florence, the king of Italy ate out of their hands and the pope loved them. His families raise to power did not come with costs, sometimes they had to sacrifice themselves, others or things. However due to their resilience they had made their way from farmers to merchants to nobles. Roberto was a true Medici, calculating and cold, he demanded power and stole the attention of everyone. He skin was tanned and littered with few wrinkles, his hair was deep brown and contained many curls. His eyes were green, like those of the emeralds he wore around his neck. He had the typical Italian build, broad shoulders, a chiseled jaw and a very angular nose. Roberto Medici screamed danger and power, he would do anything to protect his family, honor and wealth. He was a very dangerous man.
Elizabeth Medici, formally known as Èlisabeth Thoreau came from a French aristocrat family, her uncles second grandsons wife's brother was prince of France. And at the age of 15 she was married to 26 year old Roberto Medici, but a child she left her home, her family, her name and her country. Through their marriage she had made many sacrifices and she had come to share the same values as her husband. They were quite opposites, in personality and appearance. While Roberto was calculating and cold, Elizabeth was warmer and approachable. She had high expectations and stuck to the traditions, especially when it regarded their children. She stood at an average height, had long straight blonde hair, the palest skin that resembled whiter. Her eyes were a light brown and she was a slender build, having many curves, which had come in handy bearing her six children.
Antonio was the eldest of he seven kids, he was perfect, noble and refined, witty and kind, not to mention good looking. He had pulled all the French from his mother, he was born to be an aristocrat, his blood flowed with nobility and power. Blonde curly hair, pale skin, green eyes and a lean fit physic. Roberto was training his son to take over the family business, he held high regard for his son and was proud of the man he was becoming. Antonio had yet to marry and it was partly due to his high standard but also to the fact that he was so focused on the business. Regardless he was popular among everyone: ladies, lads, businessmen, priests and even the royal family.
Francis was the second eldest, he was mishap, immoral, play boy, unrefined, always joking and conceded. He was rough around the edges, and a pure blood Italian. A ladies man, built, tan with dark hair and eyes. He was never serious, something that made Roberto furious. But he had a good heart, something only few saw, mostly the woman in his family. While he spent most of his time flirting with women, or on the farm land, he had much potential, when he was being serious. Elizabeth always held hope for her second born, he had a special place in her heart. Francis was the heart of he family, always making everyone laugh and he would regularly check up on their well being, he was particularly close to his younger siblings.
Cassia was the next, and she was better know as the "The Beauty of Italy" as that's what the towns folk and nobles called her. Well each of her siblings pulled her parents, she was a mix of both parent, tan skin, curly blonde hair, brown eyes, full lips, curves like mountains and tall as well. Most men wanted her hand in marriage, only because she was rich and beautiful. People only wanted to be friends because her brother's and her money. But people didn't see that she was smart, refined, athletic, playful and cultured, they only saw her looks. Roberto was proud of his daughter and needless to say he spoiled her rotten, she was his first daughter and his favorite. Elizabeth would not dare imagine life without Cassia, it would not end well. Cassia would make an excellent wife and an even better mother, Elizabeth had trained her in such a way. Cassia regularly took care of her younger siblings and the household, all of which she never complained, but her father ensured she had a plethora of knowledge as well.
Next came Ezekiel, he was different to say the least. The only member to inherit their grandmother blue eyes he had pale with dark hair. His build was very similar to Antonio's only slightly shorter, although he was handsome, most people were put off by his peculiar behavior. He was silent, which was an unusual trait for a Medici and he spent most of his time either reading or siting in the garden. He barely talked and was awfully timid. But he was the closest to his twin. She was the only one he talked to, and she was the only one who knew the real him. Charming and kind, subtle and peaceable.
Eliza was the fire cracker, Ezekiel's twin, and while they shared the same physical attributes, they were utterly opposite. She was loud, and slightly aloof, she spent her time socializing and partying. She dreamed of getting married and loved the city life. Even if she wasn't the sharpest, her and Ezekiel could talk for hours. About what, no one would know. They spent each night talking, trading stories. But with Eliza talking would take hours, she could always talk.
Lillian was next, she was small and dainty, her nickname was flower. She had long brown hair, green eyes and lightly tanned. She was musically inclined and spent most days outside. She splashed in mud and loved playing sports, something that angered Elizabeth. Lillian loved dancing and she often did so barefoot, making mother complain about being "barbaric." Roberto knew that Lillian would cause him great troubles when she came of age to marry, but luckily Francis was ferociously protective.
The last baby was Giovanni, he was the youngest and was adopted. Roberto's youngest brother had married a Scottish woman and on one of their journeys to visit her family the boat had been ambushed and they had died. As Giovanni was the kin of Roberto he was immediately accepted into the family and with open arms. And boy was it obvious he was adopted. He had flaming red curly hair, pale skin, green eyes and freckles. He was bubbly, playful, and crazy. Even though he was not apart of the biological family, everyone was in love with him and would restless in protecting him.
