Chapter 2
Ceremony
A week passed and the pack had completed all preparations for the ceremony in time for the full moon tonight. I had never been to one; neither had most of the pack as there hadn't been one in 30 years since Alpha Cedric's. I had been listening in on people's conversations though and their parents had said that the whole pack must be present and that some kind of blood pact had to be made for Cedrick's powers to be shifted to Garett. The Luna would not have to do anything of the sort; however as her powers would immediately shift to Garett's mate after she accepted the bond.
I'd also been given the days off as the Luna had hired professional chefs to prepare the house for the feast. I doubted I would be invited. It'd be a miracle if they actually even let me attend the ceremony.
"Who cares," said Selene. "Just get some rest, they are probably only going to get drunk and puke everywhere anyway."
This was the first time in two days that Selene had spoken to me and I couldn't help but think back to the days that they had spoken constantly. Now, despite sharing the same headspace, they had grown apart.
I grimaced, "Yea and I'll be stuck having to clean it up the next morning."
Selene only hummed in reply causing me to frown. "What's wrong?"
"I don't know, I just feel so tired lately," her voice was quiet, distant. "Have you been feeling anything like that?"
I shook my head, "No." I formed a fist, "Actually I feel stronger than ever."
"Weird, d-"
She cut herself off as a knock sounds at my door. Finn's familiar scent filled my ears and my frown deepened. I don't think he'd ever actually knocked on my door; he'd pounded on it and yelled my name but never knocked.
"Come in," I said cautiously.
The door opened and I couldn't help but shift further back into the bed as my brother walked in, a black bag in hand. He wore a dark navy suit with a white top underneath, the top button of which was left undone. Finn was silent for a minute, staring at me but I couldn't bring myself to look at him. "What is it?" I asked.
He snapped out of whatever daze he was in and held out the bag. "Here," he walked forward and placed it on the bed. "It's a dress, makeup and shoes and stuff for the ceremony. Make sure you clean yourself up and that your pack mark is showing. It starts at eight forty-five, don't be late."
And with that he was gone, the door closing shut behind him.

I must have spent at least an hour fingering at and staring at the dress because by the time I looked at the clock it was seven o'clock. It was probably one of the softest and prettiest things I had even seen. It was dark blue, with a knee length skirt and had two thick straps of fabric protruding from the middle of the waist and ending at the back. I guessed that they would go under my shoulders to show my pack mark.
I move my hand to touch the tattoo at my collar bone. It was a tradition for any child born into the pack to be tattooed with its symbol, a twelve pointed star. The ink of the tattoo wasn't the normal kind, it was mixed with something that made it somewhat magical, and at least that's what I had heard people say.
