"Who are you? What have you done to mommy? What is this? Oh god."

Tears started to roll down my cheeks as my vision became blurry and my entire body quivered with fear. I ran to the counter where the phone was. My fingers shook as it dialed 911. My jaws trembled as I spoke.

"911, what is your emergency?"
"H-H-Hello?"
"Yes?" The operator asked.
"My mommy is lying on the floor and there's red stuff everywhere. Daddy isn't home and there was a masked guy here with a knife and it was also covered with red stuff. He saw me and then ran away. Am I that scary?"
"Honey, what's your address? We'll be there as soon as possible. Stay on the line in case something happens."

THUD

I sit up and wipe my cold sweat all over my forehead with my hand and wipe away the tears that escaped my eyes. I've had the same nightmare for the past 13 years.

My mom was murdered 13 years ago and today is the day she died. I was only 6 years old and I wasn't completely capable of understanding what happened at the time. I don't remember what happened after the sound. All I knew was that I got knocked out and I woke up at the hospital after.

"WHERE'S THE BREAKFAST, MISOOK?" My stepsister, Sunhyun yelled.
I checked the clock next to my bed. It's past 10 o'clock, shoot.
"HOLD ON, I'LL BE RIGHT THERE!" I yelled as I quickly got dressed and ran downstairs.

I used the knife to cut open the plastic of a new package of bacon. I made bacon, toast, and scrambled eggs. As I was making the scrambled eggs, Sunhyun stood next to me and as she was walking past me to go to the fridge, she pushed me and my hand hit the pan and I immediately walked over to the faucet and put it under cold water. It felt better but it still felt like it was throbbing.

Footsteps came down the stairs and to the kitchen. It was my stepmom.

"Ugh, all you were doing was making scrambled eggs, how could you be so clumsy and burn your hand? I'll take care of it." Sunhyun said, while she went to the medicine cabinet.
"I-" I was cut off when she put pressure on the burn, making it hurt. She smirked and wrapped it tightly."

The doorbell rang. It was the mailman. I went over to the door to get it but before I could, my stepmom went to get it instead. It was a large envelope. I didn't put much thought into it. I saw my stepsister staring at the document the whole time, though.

After breakfast, me and Sunhyun went to school. Not a lot happened. After school, I went to the graveyard my mother was buried. I brought peonies since they were her favorite flowers.

"Mom. Every single day, I still relive that night over and over again. You have no idea how bad my life has been after you passed away," tears trailed down my face and I sniffled,"At least I know that you're watching over me. I love you, mom."

I stood there for a while, thinking about everything that has happened. My phone started ringing, and I wiped the tears away as I picked up the call.

"Hey, my dearest stepsister, come home. Something interesting just happened and trust me, you don't want to miss it." Sunhyun said.

When I got to the house, it was surrounded by police cars.
