24th August 1982

Today was very busy. Dad woke me and Harry up at six o’clock and set us packing up all of our clothes spare our jammies, some clothes to wear today and a decent outfit for the day of the move. I don’t have much so everything has fitted into my small green suitcase. I also sorted all my books into shoeboxes and my few toys into a small army rucksack of Dad’s.

A couple of Dad’s friends came with their big white van to take our furniture. The house comes furnished anyway but Mum wants to take her big welsh dresser and I couldn’t go anywhere without my big mahogany bookshelf.

We leave tomorrow but I doubt that I’ll be able to sleep tonight because of the butterflies of excitement in my tummy.
