Brittany has to hurry up if she wanted to meet her mom for lunch, which she did. They didn't get a lot of time together since each of them worked crazy hours.

Looking herself over in the mirror to make sure the dark circles under her eyes was covered with make-up. Her mother would notice and comment on how tired she looked and she needed a break. There was no time for that.

Her phone rang out so she reached over to the seat to look at the screen. Shaking her head at the blocked number and throwing it back in the seat next to her. She figured it was some teens playing on the phone.

She wasn't going to engage in them games. The first two times and only times after that she did answer, the caller would blow his breath into the phone, and moan. Like that wasn't weird.

Seeing the pizza/ice cream parlor she smiled and felt her body get excited as she did when she was a child. They use to go there once a week  but they have been so busy lately.

Her mother was standing next to her car, smoking a cigarette letting her blonde hair blow around her face. She waved as her eyes connected with Brittanys.

"Hey mom, you know those are bad for ya." She giggled as her mom rolled her eyes.

"Hi baby, you know you are my brat?" She laughed.

They walked in laughing like a school girl, this is the time she loved having between daughter and mother. She could laugh and be goofy with her mom, and she would do something funny too.

"What are you going to order?" Anna asked her daughter.

"I don't know because it's been so long and now I want everything." She stared at the menu; letting other customers go ahead of them.

After five minutes she was finally ready to order, two slices of cheese pizza and a Carmel sundae. She ate cheese pizza when she was eight. Hoping she could eat all the food now that she paid for it.

Her mom only ordered a chocolate ice cream cone, which made Brittany feel like a pig with all the food she ordered. Maybe she would only eat half the sundae.

"Don't look like that and eat what you like." Her mother told her lovingly.

Finding a table out on the patio, Brittany plopped down with a huge smile before spreading the ice cream all over her face like when she was younger.

People were watching the two of them, laughing and gawking. She didn't care, life was to short for boring. Her mother looked more alive today than she has seen in awhile.

Her hazel eyes were bright and full.of life. She looked years younger when she was happy and smiling. Brittany cleaned her face with a napkin and smiled at the other customers. They laughed and clapped at her.

It was time to head back to work and they were both late from break. Anna hugged Brittany and didn't let go for the longest time.

Brittany pulled away with a smile and jumped in her car, she needed to get back to the hospital. She was only a nurses aid, but she was training to be a nurse, and thought about studying to be a doctor.

Pulling into her original parking space and climbed out. As she closed her car door there was a call for help. Brittany listened and she heard it again.

"Help! Please help me." She heard someone yelling.

Anna walked into the house with a bounce in her step, after lunch with her daughter she was in a good mood and said yes to a date with Brad. They have gone out twice, but work keeps them busy, and she is tired by the time she gets home.
