Shot. Blood bloomed on my shoulder, turning my blue shirt a sickly shade of purple. Black spots danced in my eyes, my head felt light. The ground was getting closer, then I forget.
"Man, don't give up on me!", came a voice, groggy with sleep deprevation. I came to in a room that smelled clean and looked cleaner. A TV set was on the wall, it was dark, and this guy with his groggy voice and his bedhead and his bloodshot eyes looked straight at him and shouted:
"OMIGOD, you woke up!" He said. I just stared back at him, totally confused, cause I didn't know this guy. In fact, i barely knew myself. I felt a stinging pain burn in my shoulder, and I looked over to see a bandage covering it, and a red stain on the bandage. The guy looked alarmed at my disconnect to him. Which was weird, cause I didn't know the guy. I pushed him away from my bed, and asked him why he was here, coming to my senses finally.
"Yo, Dan, it's cool. You know me, I'm your best friend. Carol, man. We've been friends since the third grade." I did NOT know him, in fact, I don't think I remembered third grade. Suddenly, the door was pushed open by a woman in a white coat, and this 'Carol' guy was being pulled out. He shouted at her, spouting some nonsense about being my only family. Then the white coat lady came in and asked me some questions.
"So, you've been out for about three weeks. I need to ask you a few questions, to determine your status. Question one: Who is the President of the United States?"
"Barack Obama," I answer, feeling confident in my answer.
"Good. Who was before?" She asked, clearly intent on finding the truth.
"George Bush," I replied, a little less confidently this time.
"And before Bush?" She pressed on.
"Ummmmmm, Lincoln?" I replied. I knew he was president sometime. I just wasn't sure when.
"Good. Very good. Now get your rest. You're going to be heading into therapy tomorrow. Good night." Therapy? I thought that was crazy. No, that it was for Crazies. I was going to talk to somebody about that later, but then, I just needed sleep.
