It was a bright day out, the sun shown through the leaves of the trees whilst the flowers and buds scattered around the ground. The world around me was a mix of blues, reds, purples, greens, yellows, and some browns, lightly clashing against each other like a beautiful sunrise. My morning had been the same as usual, I had been sitting up on the branch of the tree reading my book. It was an old book, but wasn't falling apart old, just some tears on the pages, and the cover being worn down. I read it all the time so I never have thought of this being an issue or something that would impeach my reading time.
"Honey come in its time for lunch." My mothers soft, loving voice called out to me.
"Be right there mama!" I said abruptly, carefully climbing down the tree and going towards my house. For a brief moment I looked behind me, what would it be like to live in a neighborhood? I asked myself looking at the barren fields with my house in the middle. The main character in my book had lived in one, and it seemed like a nice place to be, having friends, company, the sounds of horse carriages riding by and interrupted by the everyday talk of the people.
I shrug off the outrageous idea and turn back to go into my house, closing and locking the door behind me. After entering the home, I am greeted by my two puppies and my kitten running around my feet and jumping up to scratch my legs. I kneel before they have the chance and pet them all. Marley who's a smaller dog was right on my lap in an instant. He loves the constant attention and being acknowledge. Betty, the other puppy, was going to be a big dog when she grew up. She was already eye to eye with me when I was kneeling and she'd lick my face every now and then. Lastly there was Shenn, he was a rough-housing crazy kitten that you would always adore even when he was in trouble. Out of all the pets he was my best buddy and hung with me all the time. They all loved me, but the two dogs took more liking to my mother than myself. I looked around to find Shenn, but then I saw his little paws fall in front of my face and found him on my head. I didn't take him off because he liked it there.
After I calmed my pets, I stood up and walked into the kitchen where my mom was getting us drinks.
"You better hurry before your food gets cold." She teased as she poured the glass of cold milk.
"Yes mama!" I say with a laugh. I head to the dinner table and sit at my usual seat, mother sat across from me as normal.
"How has your book been?" She asked pointing at the large book that laid next to my plate.
"R-really good mama!" I say with excitement, it's not normal for her to ask about my reading experiences. "The main character just met up with a group of his friends to go to the odd party bein' thrown at another friend from schools house! And they're all dressed and excited in hopes of meetin' guys and gals!" I tell her. A smile on her face.
"Sounds amazing!" She says between bites of her food.
"And the best part is: two of the characters in the friend group like each other, but neither of them know and their friends try to encourage them to get together!"
"Oh? That sounds interesting!"
"Mhm! It is! And both of them are hopin' to talk to each other durin' the party, but they're both extremely shy so they're both doubting it! It's really cute mama, when I finish the book you should read it too." I say shoving more food into my mouth.
"Manners dear."
I swallow my food and clear my mouth before speaking this time, "Yes mama.."
"Anyways," she begins. "I will gladly read the book after you! You have the same taste in books as your papa and me. He'd have a bunch more books waitin' for you dear."
"Mama, when's Papa comin' home?"
Her face flushed red, her expression lightened, a small smile came over her face in hopes to cover and cheer me up. "Soon dear, soon."
I finish my plate and stand up, "Thank you for the meal mama." I squeeze out. I walk over to the sink and wash the plate off, setting it by the other dishes that are drying and head back out.
I grab my book and head back out, climbing back up the tree and to my favorite branch. I open the book and turn to the page I left off and continued reading.
The clouds started to turn gray without my knowledge, the rain interrupted my reading and forced me to had back inside. My mother closed and lock the windows same as the door.
I headed to my room to finish the chapter.

Maybe tonight will make the difference and I'll talk to her, or my friends will help me out. Either way, I hope it all works out.
