I wake up to the sun just arising. It's the most beautiful time of day. I get up and look through the window. I see a large dog or wolf looking animal in the shadows. It runs into the woods, then I hear a loud howl. My eyes widened as I watched it. That was the same howl I heard when my little brother died.... He died because I wasn't paying attention to him. He ran into the woods to "pet the puppy." When I chased after him I was to late. I couldn't find him. Then I heard him scream, after that the was a howl, the same type of howl as the one I just heard.
I ran out of the house, to go to Jaspers. Since my mom and dad worked on the weekends, I could do anything without them knowing.
I knock many times, but he doesn't answer. Maybe he's asleep. I hear footsteps from behind me. I turn quickly to see Jasper there with a puzzled face. He doesn't have a shirt on, but he's wearing sweatpants.
" What are you doing here so early?" He asks. "You won't believe what I saw," I say.
He lets me into his house as he listened to my story.
That seems scary. "I've never heard of such a type of creature," he says, amusedly. "Yeah, it scared the heck out of me," I say. He pats my back. "It's OK, I'm here to keep ya safe,"
" What could you possibly do, it's a wild animal," I ask. "Idk, just thought that'd cheer you up," he says, while shrugging.
He get up and walks to his coffee maker. "Want a cup?" He asks. "We're 18, I don't need coffee," I say. "I didn't get enough sleep," he says, without looking back at me. He starts making some for himself. I wonder why he didn't get much sleep, and why he was outside when I got here.
"So, why were you outside," I ask.
He looks at me a little puzzled, then turns back to the coffee. "I was checking on my dog," he says casually. "You have a dog now," I say excitedly. "Yeah, but he's not the kind type," he says.
"Didn't I tell you I'd hang out with you after school," I ask. He takes a second to think. "Yeah, I think so, how 'bout today," he says. "No problem, my parents are at work today," I say. "Great," he says then turns around and sips his hot coffee. I just noticed how hot he looks without a shirt.
Stop it April he's your friend, I think.
"If you want we can go through the woods," he says. "We haven't been there in a while," I say.
We walk into the woods. It's gorgeous in our woods, almost like a forest. It's almost as large as one. We hear a growl from a distance, and it sends shivers down my spine.
"You heard that too, right," I quietly ask Jasper. "Yeah," he grabs my shoulders then pulls me close to him. He looks around, trying to find what made that sound.
I tightly hug him. I can hear his breath shivering. We hear sticks crack and bushes shake. My heart starts pounding out of my chest.
"Jasper, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about," I say. I just want to enjoy the day. He looks down at me with a scared expression. "Trust me, it is," he says. "How do you know that," I ask.
Some huge and vicious wolf-like creature. Jumps out of the bushes.
I scream bloody murder making birds flay away quickly. I close my eyes tightly. I feel hair touch me were Jasper was touching me. I open my eyes to see a huge wolf face. I scream even louder than before. The wolf infront of me let's me go, then pounces on the other wolf, biting it and making it yelp. I watch the fight, with my eyes widened. I can't believe this is happening. Where's Jasper.....
Is he......The wolf.....?
