"Wait wait wait. He hit you on the head with a hammer?"
"Yeah. Guy knocks me unconscious and next thing you know I'm being shipped to a fucking country on a different fucking continent."
"Jesus Christ. The worst that's happened to me lately is I tripped on a hamster."
Allen snorted so hard that coffee came out his nose, sending both boys into howling laughter.
"Wait, wait," Allen was wheezing, hardly able to get his words out properly. "A fuck, a fucking hamster?"
Just the mention of the even sent both boys back into roaring laughter. Allen was practically doubled over he was laughing so hard.
Lavi Bookman had walked into Allen in the hallway at the girls dorm. As an apology, he offered to buy him coffee. Now, two hours later, they were sitting on a nearby street getting to know each other.
"So, what type of stuff are you into?" Allen asked, taking out his phone and snapping a quick photo of Lavi while he wasn't looking.
"Well, I mean, I'm on the football team," he said, looking back at Allen with a smile on his face.
"Really? My friends older brother is on the team."
"Seriously? Dude what's his name, maybe I know him."
"Komui Lee?"
Lavi burst out laughing, leaning his head on the table as his shoulders shook. Allen took another sneaky photo before he looked back up. "How did that man ever make it on the team?"
Allen laughed, shaking his head and looking down. Lavi, too, snapped a sneaky photo, although Allen noticed and Lavi practically went as red as his hair.
"I've got no idea. I love the guy, but he's a little insane. He's got a huge sister complex too. Like, he's practically obsessed with her." He smiled fondly, looking down at his drink.
Allen seemed caught up in memories. It was a fond look Lavi knew all too well. It was the distant look people got when they were remembering something from their past, the sadness they held in their eyes coming forward from their minds. The look made Lavi want to give him the biggest look he physically could, but all he could do was watch as Allen smiled and laughed quietly to himself while fiddling with the straw in his drink.
"You got an instagram?" Lavi asked, finally breaking he silence that had been blanketing them.
"Yeah, you?" Allen replied, looking at him and smiling. Lavi could feel his heart miss a beat because dear lord that smile was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.
"Why would I ask if I didn't? What's your username?"
Both pulled out their phones, adding each other to their contacts and social medias. Allen was surprised, although not really, by how many followers he had. The guy was practically instagram famous. Well, it wasn't that big of a shock, Lavi was a YouTuber as well as part timing as a model.
"Wait wait wait, you've seen Hamilton?" Lavi seemed shocked.
"I lived in New York for three years. I've seen a lot of Broadway shows," Allen shrugged. It wasn't really that big of a deal.
"I'm shook."
They talked a little more about things while scrolling through each other's accounts, commenting on different pictures and such. One picture, though, caught Allen's attention. And he quickly saved it to his phone before Lavi could notice. His phone went off, an incoming call from Lenalee startling both boys. Allen declined the call, going back to his conversation with Lavi.
"Allen, come closer," Lavi smiled, pulling Allen closer to him.
"Um, okay?" Allen scoffed over, only to realize that Lavi was telling him to move so that an elderly lady could sit on the bench next to him.
Lavi leaned over to Allen, resting his chin on his shoulder. "I've got an idea," He whispered before he stood up, walking over to the old woman with a huge smile on his face.
"Excuse me miss," he started, catching the lady's attention. "Would you mind taking a picture of me and my friend? If it's not too much trouble."
She gave them a wide smile. "Oh, I'd love to. You two are so cute together."
Allen turned bright red as Lavi pulled him up and handed the lady his phone. "Make sure your Starbucks is noticeable, eh babe." Allen turned even redder.
"Alright, let's see if I can do this properly," the lady mumbled to herself, holding the phone. "Okay. Smile boys!"
Lavi wrapped his arm around Allen's waist, pulling him closer as the lady snapped about seven pictures. They thanked her, taking back the phone and sitting back down. They looked through the photos before deciding which one they liked best. Allen watched as Lavi fiddled with editing a little bit before something caught his eye. He got up and wandered towards an old book shop, standing at the window and reaching for his bag, fully intent on grabbing his camera before Lavi shouted after him.
"Hey, what's up?" He asked, coming up behind him and looking into the old bookshop. "Oh wow."
"I just wanted to take a photo is all, I'm sorry if I'm bothering you," Allen looked down, his cheeks flushing.
Lavi smiled. "Nonsense," he grabbed Allen's hand and pulled him inside.
