"El!"
I slowly turned my body to the right and propped open my eyes. The retro-styled clock displayed 8:42. I groaned and sat up on the bed, brushing my blonde hair out of my face. I slipped on my UGG slippers that my boyfriend got for me and headed downstairs. Zach was sitting at the table. He looked up and gave me smile.
"There's my girl."
I walked over to him and planted a kiss on his forehead.
"Hey." I walked over to the toaster and popped some bread in. The toaster immediatly flicked on, sending delicious smells into the air.
"So," Zach started. He quickly flipped the omelet he was making, then glanced back at me. "Tommorrow's your 25th birthday."
Oh, right. How could I forget. Another year in my life had gone by. Great.
"Thanks for reminding me." I stick out my tongue at him. He just laughs. "I've made dinner plans. At The Golden Throne."
I stare at him, my mouth hung open. Bread falls out of my mouth and I snap back into reality. "You what?" I ask him with utter shock.
"I said, I've dinner plans made at The Golden Throne," Zach responds.
I run over to him pulling him into a tight hug, and kiss him. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Zach and I enjoy the rest of our breakfast, talking about how prestigious the restaurant we're going to is and what we'll have to wear. After about what seemed an hour, I make my way to the end of the hall, opening the pearl white closet doors.
"I'm heading to the store!" I call to Zach.
He gives me a wave. "See you later," He says, then heads upstairs.

When I arrive at the local store, I immedietly follow my daily shopping routine by grabbing a cart and heading over to the pastries. I don't know why it's the pastry section I go to first, but it may be a bad habit or my sweet tooth dragging me in. I stroll on over to the donuts (awfully crappy for me but I don't care) and start grazing over the flavours. Vanilla-Sprinkled, Double Chocolate, and Glazed are the ones I consider.
"Mommy!"
I look around, but I don't see anyone. I have no clue where it's coming from.
"Look at these!"
I'm very confused, but then it feels as if I've hit my head hard. I run my hand along my skull, when my brain becomes fully immersed in an image and it feels as if my eyes have shutdown.
A girl with two blonde ponytails is pointing at the glass case where the pastries are. She calls for her mother again, and soon a tall and fair woman strides over, hair a darker shade then her daughter's and a silvery purse clutched against her side.
"I want one of those," the little girl says, ponytails swishing about.
The mother leans in, adapting what her daughter has been grazing at for so long.
"Hmmm...." The lady pauses, then hands her daughter the pink donut she so desperately wanted.
The girl's arm fling around her mother. "Thank you!" She says.
The tall woman bends down and whispers something in the girl's ear. I have a hard time believing it is a whisper, because I hear it ever so clearly.
"Don't tell Daddy," the lady smiles. "We don't need him getting jealous, now do we?"
"You are right, Mommy." Looking more closely, the girl looks about 8.
"I love you!" The girl squeals.
"And I love you, my little Elliephant," the mother replies.
Elliephant.
Ellie-Phant.
E-L-L-I-E-P-H-A-N-T.
The word flickers throughout my mind. The nickname sounds oddly familiar, but I don't know where it's from.
"Hello? Sweetie?"
My head is pounding and ringing. A migrane starts to form.
"Someone call for help!"
My eyes burst open to reveal at least 12 people hovering over me. I take a second to take in my surroundings and suddenly realize I'm sprawled out onto the floor of the grocery store.
"Wha-what happened?" My voice sounds as it has a twinge of confusion in it. As it did.
"Good, she's alive." A large woman presses a hand to her heart in relief.
An older fellow reaches down and gives me a hand. "You just sorta fell," he explained. "One minute you were happily shopping, the next down on the floor, out like a light."
"So I fainted?" I ask him.
"It wasn't exactly like that. It was like something scared you out of your tree." The man chuckles. "I hope it wasn't me."
"Of course not!" I laugh. I notice a few donuts squished beneath my shoe and under my back. "I did that, didn't I." I start to clean up the mess, but a employee with a mop quickly comes over. "You don't have to clean," she tells me. "You should just go home and get some rest."
"Thank you." I quickly get up, brushing off the bits of donut stuck to my scarf. I pull out my iPhone and dial Zach, telling him how I just wiped out cold.
"I'll pick you up," Zach tells me, clearly concerned. "Wait there."
---
Not to long after, Zach arrives and I get into the passenger seat of his car. As I stare out the window examining the raindrops, a sudden, but scary thought comes to my mind.
What if that little girl in my head was me?
It makes sense; Elise=Ellie=Elliephant.
But what I'm most suprises about is the fact that I actually remember a moment of my childhood. If this memory came back, does that mean others will too? Will it explain why I've forgotten my past in the first place?
