"Up! Get up!" Petunia Dursley knocked on the door of the cupboard under the stairs where Katherine Riddle and Harry Potter slept. To say the least they weren't given a choice as to where they slept. As Katherine started to sit up rubbing her eyes groggily Petunia sighed and slapped the cupboard door once again while saying, "Now!" before walking to the kitchen.
Harry started sitting up when he and Katherine heard Dudley starting to come down the stairs. But not before he stopped halfway down the staircase to jump on the stairs causing dust from the floorboards to rain down on them whilst saying, "Wake up, cousins! We're going to the zoo!"
Katherine then took the privilege of using hand magic to shock Dudley through the stairs. She didn't know how or why she could do it but she liked it. They took turns getting changed into their clothes before walking to the kitchen where they had to serve breakfast to the Dursleys who they sadly had to live with.
While they got dressed they heard Petunia exclaim, "Here comes the birthday boy!"
Uncle Vernon Dursley was sitting at the table when he said, "Happy birthday, son."
As Katherine and Harry walked into the kitchen wearing what was rags compared to the Dursleys' attire Petunia said, "Why don't you just cook breakfast, and try not to burn anything."
"Yes, Aunt Petunia," Harry and Katherine said in unison.
As they started to get to work Petunia added, "I want everything to be perfect for my Dudley's special day."
"More like another day for us to suffer Dudley's stuck-up snobbiness, "Katherine mumbled under her breath.
"What did you say, girl?" Vernon asked with a menacing tone that didn't phase Katherine in the slightest though Harry looked at her with a worried look.
"Oh. I just said that this is another day for Dudley to get a special day being that he is a year older and that I wish that I was as lucky as my cousin to be showered with all this attention," Katherine said smirking.
Vernon huffed knowing that wasn't what she said before telling Harry, "Hurry up! Bring my coffee boy!"
"Yes, Uncle Vernon."
Harry and Katherine gave each other their normal sarcastic expression before quickly smiling at each other. Then they returned to their work. Petunia then led Dudley to the family room where he stared at the presents that practically lined the room and covered the floor. At least before he asked, "How many are there?"
Vernon replied, "Thirty-six! Counted them myself!"
Katherine knew what was coming next. Dudley exclaimed, "Thirty-six!? But last year I got thirty-seven!"
"Yes, well some of them are quite a bit bigger than last year."
"I don't care how big they are!"
Katherine rolled her eyes and said, "Well looks like we have poor little, helpless Dudley who can't care for himself. Why don't you buy your own presents if you don't have enough already?"
Dudley stared at her mouth agape before glaring at her. Vernon then said, "I've had quite enough of your smart remarks girl."
"You know I could care less or wait I couldn't care at all."
Before Vernon could start his next sentence Petunia said, "Oh, now, now, now. This is what we're going to do when we go out we're going to buy you two new presents! How's that sound?"
Dudley smiled proudly at his achievement. Katherine just rolled her eyes saying nothing while looking at Harry who just stayed quiet.
