A piercing ring broke through my thoughts and I startled awake. Terrified from recounting the events that had taken place that night, I looked around, sweeping my head from side to side.
The room I was in was a sterile, cold, white, nothing.
The walls bubbled like foam, but they were white. I sat up in a starch white bed, with crisp sheets and an uncomfortable pillow. I was dressed in white leggings, with a white shirt. My skin was unusually pale and I looked around for a mirror. There wasn't one.
As I roused from my stupor I began to see things clearly.
The room was barren. There was no door, no mirror, no windows, no food, no water, no vents, no nothing.
The idea of Nothingness scared me almost as badly as the dark did.
I shuffled from underneath the rough covers and swung my feet over the side of the bed, touching the freezing floor with my toes before putting my foot completely down.
I walked to the edge of the room to look at the wall, it looked like a crazy person's holding cell.
Then it dawned on me, I had no idea where I was, where I'd been, how long I was gone. Was my family worried? How long had I been here? Why was I here? What was happening?!
I breathed in and out quickly, panic was setting in. I had no idea how to leave, I ran around examining the wall for a door.
Finally to the far left of the wall my bed was facing, I found one. It blended in! What kind of place was this? I pushed on it, it barely moved before all the lights shut off in the asylum room.
I screamed. Loud.
Then a voice came over an intercom.
'Liliana Masters, remain calm. The sedatives have worn off, but we can quickly fix that. Now, please, return to your bed. Somebody will come assist you in a second.'
The door suctioned closed and the lights turned back on. I still screamed, perilously.
Suddenly a man in white scrubs entered the room with a platter full of syringes and strange colored liquids.
I shrieked, running and hunkering down in the farthest corner.
I ran because the man who entered, led me here in the first place.
Adrian was back.
