CHAPTER 2
YOU'RE A WOLF LIKE ME!!!
OTHER POV
Dallas carries me into a room that smells like him and shuts the door then carries me into a bathroom. He sets me down then stares at me with a serious look on his face.
"You need a shower so I'm going to take your clothes off. I need to make sure you're okay." I blink at him then shrug and pull the shirt over my head. His eyes darken and narrow on the burnt flesh covering my left hip and the right side of my chest. Feeling strange with his eyes boring into me I turn my back to him to take off my pants. I freeze when he snarls and speaks.
"What happened to your back?" He touches the mark between my shoulder blades and...
......"There's my little puppy. Had to look hard for my little prize." I whine and try to run as his hand grasps my fur but it's no use. He spells like copper and I know that's bad. Momma had smelled like that. I twist my neck and bite his hand. He snarls and his hand shifts to a paw that he digs into my back. For a moment our eyes connect and I realize that I know who he is. No! He's supposed to protect.....
"MATE! STOP!" I blink my eyes and see I'm in Dallas's arms as he holds me to his chest. He's warm and he feels nice. I place a hand on his chest as I look back at him. His silver eyes are black and I stiffen in surprise as I move my hand from his chest to his face.
"Dallas, your eyes. Hurt?" His voice is low and deep as he speaks.
"Angry." I continue to look at him, not understanding.
"At me?" He shakes his head and sets me down on my feet.
"At who did this to you." I cross my arms over my stomach as I stare at him.
"Why?" He seems puzzled as he breathes heavily, his chest rising and falling.
"Because you were hurt and I wasn't there." I'm still confused and I say so.
"Not your fault. His." He growls and I start in surprise at the wolf like growl. He's human. How does he growl.
"Who?" I shake my head.
"Don't know. You asked. I remembered. Protect. He was supposed to protect me." With a snarl, Dallas's clothes and exploded and I am left to stare at a large silver wolf bigger than Alpha. I smile and take off my pants as I speak.
"Dallas. You're a wolf too? Can we run? Please?" His eyes stare at my human body as I jump up and down a moment before shifting into my wolf. I know my wolf is a white wolf with black on my paws and silver on the tips of my ears. I nip at Dallas's side as I walk over to him.
"Dallas you're a wolf like me. I thought you were human." Dallas looks at me and I feel his chuckle in my head.
"No mate. I'm a werewolf like you. Now let's go run with your Pack." I yelp and follow him out the door and downstairs. There are several humans downstairs staring at Alpha when Dallas and I come down. They all look up at us and the man in front of Alpha grins at me as the female from earlier glares. I growl and she steps behind the male as the male speaks.
"Mate, huh? I guess you'll explain later?" Dallas lifts his lips and bares his teeth at the man. The man laughs and opens the door. Alpha takes the lead with Dallas and I running behind him. The rest are behind us. I jump over a fallen log letting out a yip when Patch catches his paw and falls to the ground. Immediately I stop and help him get his paw loose. He licks my face in thanks and I mock growl at him.
"Come on Patch. Dallas and Alpha are waiting." Patch bumps against me and I take off after Dallas. Alpha leads us to our temporary lair and I huff, out of breath before lying down. Alpha looks at me as he speaks.
"Mate and I must talk. He can hear me in this form. Stay with Pack." I whine and look at Dallas but I don't move from my spot. Dallas leans down and nuzzles me before following Alpha.
DALLAS POV
I don't like leaving her with them but I nuzzle her and follow Alpha. I hope he can tell me more about her. Alpha leads me into some trees before turning back to me. His golden eyes assesse me as he speaks.
"Found Other eight human years ago. She was a pup. She seems to remember if you ask questions. But some questions make her afraid. Be careful. Don't hurt. Had her read a sign where we found her. It said Louisville, Co. Knew she wasn't just wolf." I tilt my head as I regard the Alpha keeping my ear open for danger.
"How did you know she wasn't wolf?" Alpha snorts and sniffs the air.
"Smell different. Had to hide hers with Pack." Puzzled I look at him.
"Why did you have to hide he scent?" Alpha growls as he looks around.
"He follows. Always follows. He wants her. She doesn't know." Alpha looks back to me shaking his fur out.
"You protect. We help. Bad man. Must die. Smells wrong." He bares his teeth and I nod. Nobody is going to hurt her.
"Thank you for saving her." Alpha snorts as he leads us back to the others.
"She smart very cunning. Good mate. Watch over my pup." With that said he walks over to Other and pushes her to her feet.
