The tree

I flow and dance in the wind,
I shimmy and shake in the moving breath that surrounds me,
I have had time to grow and mend,
I am the tree.

I have watched hundreds of people go by,
I pray for the ones who flee,
I encourage the ones who try,
I am the tree.

I believe I was built for a purpose bigger than I,
Although I'm not sure if that purpose for me,
In the dead of night you can hear me cry,
I am the tree.

I see the meadows and the bees,
I hear nature call out in plea,
Their sad song echoes through the breeze,
I am the tree.

You may look past me and my friends,
You may make think of us as nothing but please,
Remember on us your like depends,
We are the trees.
