City Fever

Welcome Berry!!

The alarm rings, its 7am. Berry struggles out of bed and it's obvious he's not okay. He must have gone through a lot of stress. A day before, he had just arrived from a long trip. What really happened?

The previous day:
"Hi, my name is Iris. I'm a native of Atlanta but I just came back from a visit to my aunt who lives in New York. Its obvious you also arrived. What's your name?" Those were her first speech to Berry who already started feeling uncomfortable having to speak with a stranger. "Well, my name is Berry.... I came to visit my uncle here in Atlanta.... Er.... And...em.... This is my first time travelling alone" he finally spoke with difficulty. "Oh really, you need to get used to travelling on your own. It's fun and you can see I also travelled alone too. It's nice meeting you." She spoke with a smile on her face. Berry noticed the smile and was totally lost in it. "Thanks, nice meeting you too." Berry tries to stretch a hand for a shake but immediately withdrew it. Iris however, decided to listen to music on her phone using her earpiece gadget. Berry also started playing games on his phone and the vehicle moved with the both of them as passengers and the driver.
It hasn't been up to an hour drive and they are stuck in heavy traffic already. Berry hates traffic, it often makes him late and bored. His phone has gone off while he was playing games and Iris still has her earpiece on. She doesn't really seem to be bothered as if she was already used to it. Berry then tries to look beyond the cars ahead of them if he could see any cause for the traffic but all to no avail, it's a really long one and they might spend the night on the road. He finally sinks into the chair he sat on, waiting hopefully for the road to be free. "O, damn it." He thought he heard that come from Iris' mouth in a disappoint tone. She removed her earpiece and keeps it, trying to switch her phone on again but it doesn't even blink. Her phone is dead too. The both of them are left alone to themselves now, except if someone decided to speak with the other. Her hatred for traffic is now noticed and it seems the music was only calming her down. "She must have known that there would be traffic when she put on the earpiece while they were still at the airport" were Berry's thought to himself. He seems to have his attention on her now.
"Is anything the matter?" He asked. "I hate traffic" was the simple reply. "Well, is this how it happens all the time?" "Yes, but if we spend two hours in this one then it's not really heavy" "That means the traffic in the city is really bad" "You are right and I hope you won't get tired if your stay soon." The conversation continued and they finally concentrated less on the traffic and more on their discussion. This was how they both realized they would be staying in the same estate but only few streets away. The traffic took up to three hours and Berry finally arrived home (his uncle's home) at 7:27pm. It was dark already. He had walked Iris home and met with her parents who welcomed him well. That's his first friend in Atlanta, a female; an angelic one. His uncle was angry at his late arrival and that he didn't call to inform him when he got to the airport. Berry started another long explanation and finally his uncle understood.

His uncle, James Sly, is a single man. He doesn't seem like he is interested in getting married. But he has wealth and is a very hardworking man. Only he is a drinker and get drunk when he's idle. "Go and pick a room for yourself upstairs and come back after you have taken a shower for supper." Berry did so and when he was ready for supper, his uncle took him out to an eatery for supper. Imagine that! Soon enough, Berry's is really going to be home sick, this is another dimension of life for him. Around 10pm they were already back to rest for the night. The tiredness was written all over Berry's face as he struggled to his room and finally slept on his big soft bed with his last thought of the lady he had just met.

Enough of the flashback.

Berry still has a lot to know about Christopher Brown Estate. It is a very big one, one could even call it an empire because it has everything you need and you will barely go to the city, only for more important things though. He does his normal morning routine and is ready for breakfast. He joins his uncle downstairs who is already leaving for work. "Good morning uncle" "Good morning, hope you had enough rest" "Yes sir" "Okay, I'm leaving for work now. I called your dad already to let him know you are here and he sent his regards. Meanwhile, you can prepare anything to eat or visit the eatery nearby for fast food. Have this money, and take good care of yourself. I'll be back before 6pm. Bye." He hands over the money to Berry who also bids him bye and decided to watch a movie before thinking about what to eat.
