Robyn.
As we drove around Jacques switched the song to one of my all time favorites.
Ballin by PND.
I couldn't help but get hype as I swayed in my seat and sang the intro.
"I'm outta your leaguee... baby, the bitches I seennn baby.."
As I continued to sing along I opened the window, letting the wind blow through my short hair, as I felt the music take me away. Maybe it was the way PND sang, or how different his genre of music was but one thing was for sure; when I vibed to his music all my worries and thoughts went away.
"Girl I'm out here, getting to the mon-"
I became silent when Jacques turned the music down completely and I looked at the view of the palm trees ahead of us in awe.
I quickly snapped out of admiring the beauty of nature as I looked at him.
"Why'd you stop the music, you knew I was vibing to that."
He glanced at me then the road, chuckling slightly, whilst I was over here wondering what the fuck could've been so amusing.
"Your voice, you never told me you could sing.." He said, slightly surprised and it was clear he was about to urge me to sing another verse for him.
"What makes you think I'd tell you anyway? Who do you think you are?" I questioned as I huffed and looked out of the window.
I felt his gaze shift from the road, onto me and I looked back at him with pursed lips.
Though my stare was harsh and cold, the words that left his lips next; softened my features.
"Why you so damn rude.." He started as his eyes stared back on the road to ensure he was steering in the right direction.
"I've been nothing but kind to you, I'm sure in your workplace niggas don't even treat you with the same kind of respect I give you."
I instantly bit my lip, unsure of what to say. His reasoning was absolutely right and I was taken back by how out front he'd become; but also the fact that he sounded extremely irritated by my distant behavior.
I had no reply to back myself up, so I remained quiet and looked out of the window.
"I'm fucking talking to you..not a brick wall." He rose his gruff voice and I flinched slightly, completely taken back.
"How hard is it to just return the kindness I give you. Only times you really seem to be into anything is when I give you money..." He took a pause and shook his head. "But surely money isn't the only thing you value I mean for fucksake, come on."
"So.. you're trying to force me to have some sort of relationship with you?" Wasn't the best answer but for now it would do. He was right, but I wasn't going down without a fight.
He stopped at the red light and faced me.
"That's a stupid remark Robyn. All the times I've seen you or requested your presence It was never out of your will. You could've turned me down, but look were we are now." He smirked smugly, knowing he was proving me wrong and shutting me down completely.
As he continued to drive I realized arguing with him would mean less pay, or leading to him possibly losing interest in me. So I played along to prevent that.
"You're right.." I sighed as I looked down playing with my fingers as I tried my best to try gain sympathy immediately. "I just.. I have problems with opening up to people like that, I don't have anyone to do all of that with, so you coming here and trying to know everything about me it's just.."
I didn't even have to finish or continue before Jacques placed his free hand on my thigh, squeezing slightly as he looked at me. We had now parked outside what I was guessing was his studio.
"See, it's not that hard to be more open. I appreciate that you've told me this so I know in the future." He undid his seat belt, leaning over as he placed a soft kiss to my cheek.
I bit my lip to hide my smirk, acting sure was a gift.
