"Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you!"
Beatrix was awoken with a start as her parents and brothers barged into her room, singing the birthday song at the top of their lungs.
"We've made waffles and bacon! Your favourite." Her father sang. Beatrix shot out of bed, with a wide grin plastered on her face.
"And maple syrup? Dad please tell me you got maple syrup." Her father chuckled.
"We got it last night Trixie." He said. "Now c'mon! Breakfast is getting colder as we speak. No one likes cold bacon."
Beatrix rushed out of her room, her three brothers stumbling after her. She couldn't wipe her smile off her face as she entered the kitchen, immediately sitting down and filling her plate full of food.
"What would you like to do for your tenth birthday?" Her mother asked her as the rest of the family sat down, filling their plates.
"You know what I want to do." Beatrix told them, her words barely legible due to the food that was stuffed in her mouth. Her mother laughed, shaking her head.
"I should have known you'd want to go to the park to see your friends." Her mother said. Henry clapped from where he sat.
"That's my girl! You up for a little baseball?" He asked. Beatrix's smile wavered as she looked away from her father.
"Well...dad...I was hoping it would just be me and the twins this time." She said quietly. Henry didn't loose his bright smile, but Beatrix knew she had hurt her father's feelings.
"O-oh. Well yes of course! It's your birthday after all." He said, digging into his waffle.
"Thanks dad." Beatrix smiled.
Fred and George were already waiting at the park when Beatrix arrived. Smiling, Beatrix ran over to where they were sitting with their brother Charlie. As soon as the twins saw their friend approaching, they sprang to their feet.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEA!" They both said in unison. Beatrix was caught in a tight hug between the two boys, giggling.
"Happy Birthday Beatrix." Charlie said, waving to the girl from where he sat on the grassy ground. Beatrix barely ever saw any of the Weasley children during the year, but once summer began, Beatrix's favourite time of the year, Bill or Charlie would start to bring the boys to the park.
Fred and George said it was because they had to go to school, but when asked which school they went to, the twins didn't seem to want to tell her. They usually shrugged it off, mumbling something about a boarding school.
"We've brought cake!" Fred exclaimed, pulling the girl over to a basket they had brought. Fred ripping open the top, revealing a large cake with bright pink icing.
"Sorry about the colour." George said as Fred and Charlie attempted to take the cake from its casing. "Mum rarely ever gets the chance to use the colour pink...only having one daughter and all."
"Yeah." Piped up Fred. "Once mum knitted pink socks and made us all wear them."
"And yours seemed to mysteriously dissappear." Said Charlie as he successfully broke the cake free from its casing. Beatrix giggled.
"Well I like it." She said. "When will I be able to come over to your house?" She asked. The three boys exchanged a look.
"Erm. Our house isn't done yet." Charlie said as he cut the cake.
"Still? Your dad has been renovating it this whole time? What's he doing? Rebuilding the house?" Asked Beatrix, frowning.
"Something like that..." George muttered.
"Well, when can we go to your house Bea?" Asked Fred. Beatrix rolled her eyes, groaning.
"Mum doesn't want anymore kids in our house. She says it's messy enough with my brothers and all." Fred made a gasping noise.
"I'm hurt that she thinks we're messy kids." He said, smirking.
"Fred. Do you remeber last Christmas when you--"
"Shush, Charlie. I wasn't talking to you." Said Fred, sticking his hand in Charlie's face. Charlie frowned, swatting his hand away from his face.
"Fine. No cake for you." Charlie said, passing the cake to George instead. Fred huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Don't make me hex you." Said Fred. Charlie just laughed.
"With what wand--?"
"HEHEM!" George coughed, loud enough to drown out his brother's words. Charlie and Fred froze, looking over at Beatrix who just stared at them with an extremely confused look.
"Hex him? What in the world?" Beatrix said, frowning. Charlie passed her a piece of cake quickly.
"We're only joking." Said Charlie with a red face. Fred nodded, swallowing a lump in his throat.
An awkward silence blanketed over the ground as all four of them ate cake. It wasn't until George got to his feet that the awkward silence finally ended.
"Let's play ball!" He said, stretching out his hand. Beatrix smiled, grabbing onto the boy's hand and he heaved her to her feet.
"Good going, Charlie." Fred said as they watched George and Beatrix run off together. "Only in your fourth year and you've already almost exposed the magic world to a muggle."
"You're no saint yourself, Fred." Charlie shot back. Fred wiggled his eyebrows at his embarrassed brother before he ran off to catch up with his brother and friend.
When night fell, the three friends found themselves lying side by side, staring up at the twinkling stars above them.
They had played all day, Julie and Molly had come to check on their children a while back, but seeing they were in play mode the two mother's instead sat together at a picnick table and talked away. It wasn't long though, until Bill showed up to get Molly and instead he sat and watched over the kids. Julie headed home as well to check on her husband and children.
Beatrix was lying in between her two best--and only--friends. They lie is silence for quite sometime before Beatrix finally spoke up.
"Do you suppose there's a whole other world out there?" Beatrix asked as they studied the stars. Fred and George were quite for a moments.
"How do you mean?" Asked George, turning on his side to look at the girl. Beatrix just smiled, still watching the stars as if any minute they might dissappear on her.
"I mean...other worlds. Ones just like this one but...different." Said Beatrix.
"Like a magical world?" Said George. Beatrix felt Fred's body stiffen beside her. She looked over at George.
"Exactly! A magical world!" She laughed, looking back up at the sky. "Wouldn't it be amazing?" She asked.
"Yeah." George said, turning onto his back again and looking up at the dark night sky. "That would be something..."
