Chapter I

Dogs barking, birds chirping, wind rustling in the trees. Such a beautiful day in such an awful neighborhood. I didn't want to move here I was perfectly happy at my home in Parkland, Florida but now I'm stuck here in the "2nd best place next to Florida" as my mom calls it. It is Utah and it is horrible. My dad got a new job here in Utah he works in some weird business called pipes a plenty. Their opening a new store and apparently they absolutely have to have my dad here.

"Luna come out of that room right now and take your brother to the park this instant" my mom yelled from down stairs. Taking my little six year old brother to the park. I mean I'm almost 16 my mom shouldn't tell me what to do. Even though this was the last thing I wanted to do today the park was the only decent part about this town. Also I needed some fresh air this old house that we moved to smells like barf and on top of that the air conditioner was broken and it the middle of July. So I scrabbled down the stairs and left with my baby brother Jackie.

This neighborhood really freaked me out. I heard that there are a lot of gangs and bad people around here. We walked for about ten minutes and when we got to the park Jackie screamed out in enjoyment and darted for the swings. "Come on Luna come push me" yelled Jackie from across the park. I walked towards him and said "no way learn how to push your self" as I sat down on a bench. I looked down at my phone for literally one minute and as soon as I look up there he is in mid air flying of the swing. Immediately I regretted my decision. if anything happened to him it was going to be my fault and my parents were going to kill me.

Sure enough Jackie was on the floor crying and I could see his leg was bent in the wrong direction. "Oh my god Jackie are you ok" I said with worry in my voice. That was a stupid question because his leg was obviously broken. The lady next to me was already on the phone with the paramedics while I

was calling my mom. I really hoped that it wasn't too bad because we barley had enough money for a house let alone medical bill. Right then the the paramedics and my mom were here and the look on the paramedics face said it all, I was toast and I was going to pay for it.
