Stuck In a Dream

Dr. Constance Sykes

Dr. Sykes arrived mid afternoon. Zara could barely hold in her excitement, she may finally be cured. The doctor asked that everyone who knew about the dreams be there to support her, so Scarlett and Dallas came soon after.

Hello, I'm Dr. Sykes, but you can call me Constance," She said smiling, "Let's talk one on one, ok?"

"Ok." Zara answered.

Zara told Dr. Sykes everything that has happened since the dreams started. When she finished retelling every dream that trapped her, the doctor had half a notebook filled with notes.

"All of these dreams you were able to escape, no harm came to you. Have you ever been stuck in a nightmare?"

"No, I haven't had any since it started."

Dr. Sykes started writing again, her brows furrowed and her mouth curved into a line. She was worried about something and it put Zara on edge.

"What's wrong?" Zara asked nervously.

"Nothing, well..." She sighed, "I'm worried if you have a nightmare you won't be able to escape, or you could be seriously injured and left in a coma. We may be running out of time, so if I'm going to fix this, it has to be as soon as possible."

Zara took all of this information in, hardly believing her ears. She felt a range of emotions, but mostly anger. Why was this happening to her, she did nothing to deserve something like this. She rose from her seat and walked out of the room to see Scarlett and Dallas. Scarlett say the worry on her face as soon as she walked through the door. She rushed over and hugged her best friend. Dr. Sykes came out soon after and filled everyone else in. Zara's mom looked like she was about to cry but held it in for Zara's sake. Dallas stared around the room, he couldn't believe it either. Scarlett started sobbing while still attached to Zara which made her start crying too.

Once everyone calmed down a bit Scarlett asked, "So what do we do now?"

"I need to see her actually fighting to get out of her dreams, I will monitor her sleep every night until she has one and gather the information I need. I will have my associates bring all of my equipment from my office in California, hopefully I will be be able to decipher what is wrong and fix it."
