The girl in the mirror

Potato chips in hand
Fingers down my throat
Eyes on the scale
Heart on the floor

As the beast in my belly roars with hunger
And the voices consume my thoughts
Everything passes in a flash
Recognition and applause fills the room

Congratulations in order, round the clock
Fake smiles planted on fake people
Fake love coming from fake hearts
Standing in a room of imposters

Sliced, shattered, stabbed
Broken, and burned
Flames fill my surroundings
Tears fall from above

The girl in the mirror shouts at me
Pounding on the walls of her cage
Staring at me with a gaze so powerful
Time stands still frozen moments at a time

Words roaming the room
Mouths drop, as the numbers on the scale decrease
But the girl in the mirror, does nothing but break
Gaze upon gaze filled with nothing but sorrow

I lay there, with a thought
Fear creeps into my skin
Stares follow me up the stage
Their eyes gaze upon every part of my body

But the girl in the mirror nods with appreciation and gratitude
As she finally steps out of her shattered cage
She approaches me with a gift
A smile plastered on her face

Now a box lays Infront of me as I look into the mirror
My gaze drops to the scale that I have been occupying
The fingers move out of my mouth
As my heart beats once more

I open the box
Free of thoughts of imposters
A letter laying with in
"You are beautiful, without a shadow of a doubt"
