"Tag, you're it!" Yuki shouted, as he began to run. "Hey, no fair!" Rin shouted back at him and chased after the boy.
"Yuki? What are you doing playing with him?"
The two boys turned to a group of children who looked at Rin like he was a disease.
"Playing tag," Yuki answered. At this, the group scoffed.
"Come play with us." A guy with black hair said. Yuki looked at Rin, then the group, and whispered a sorry.
He walked towards the group, and left Rin alone.
The next day, was one of Rin's worst.
It was once again time for recess, and Rin scanned the playground for his friend.
"There he is!" Rin whispered to himself. He began making his way over to the brunette.
"Hey Yuki!" He greeted happily. Yuki's back was to Rin, but he didn't say a thing in return.
Rin's smile dissappeared and he stood right beside his friend who refused to look at him.
"Yuki? Something wrong?" He asked.
"Go away," Yuki muttered, though so lowly Rin didn't hear him.
"What was that?" Rin asked once more.
"Stay away from me, you freak!" The little six year old boy screamed as he shoved Rin to the ground. The shove caused poor Rin to cry out in pain as the skin on the back of his arms tore. With tears in his eyes, he looked at the boy that had seemed so friendly at first.
A flash of them playing before flashed in Rin's mind, and it hurt. Even if they were happy. Another flash of Rin sharing a closed eyed smile with the young boy stung his heart.
He looked up at his friend, and saw that he was glaring. "You disgust me." The boy spat. His sugar brown hair waving in the wind dramatically. The boy's bangs covered his eyes. "Why did you think we could ever be friends?" And with that, Rin's only friend, Yuki, walked away.
Not once did he look back.
