I woke up, washed, brushed my teeth, and got dressed. I gathered my things and went down stairs. There was a plate of eggs, bacon, french toast, and grits. Next to it there was a note that said
"Dear, Jasmine
I know I haven't been acting like a mother and you probably think I don't love you because I'm always working. But I'm just trying to make sure that you have all that you have, and that you have a better lifestyle than I did as a teenager. I want to make up for all this lost time. That's why after you get home from school, we're going to the mall, hair salon, nail salon, and I'm taking you to a home decor store. I figured you might want to redecorate your room to a more mature style. I'm sorry not around like you want me to be. I made you a hot breakfast. Don't be late for school.

I just looked at the note over and over. I was happy but I was also confused. Why come around now? What made her want to do all this? Is something bad gonna happen? Is she just doing all this to butter me up? All these questions were clouding my mind so much, that I forgot I had to get to school. I quickly ate the food and was on my way.

*At school*

I waked into class and took out my pencil and paper and started taking notes. I look through the window of the door and I see Brianna and some dude talking. But it didn't seem like they were talking- more like yelling. That's when I see the dude punch her in the jaw and she screams. All I see is red. I really can't remember what happened but all I know is that whoever that was, isn't gonna come back for a while. They called my mom and Brianna's mom too and put me in the office. I was sitting in the principals office, ready to get the maximum punishment.

Mr. Wright-    So Jasmine, I heard u like to lash out on folks now?
Jasmine-    (Just be calm) Idk who told u that but I wasn't in any way "lashing out" on him. I was giving him the ass whooping he deserved. HE DIDN'T NEED TO PUNCH HER IN THE JAW. HER JAW COULD'VE BROKE AND THEN WHAT, WHAT WOULD YALL HAVE DONE IF HER JAW BROKE? YALL NOT GONNA PAY FOR THE MEDICAL OR HER MEDICINE FEES. AND THATS MY BEST FRIEND. IDK WHAT U THINK THIS IS BUT IM NOT JUST GONNA SIT AROUND AND LET HER GET HER ASS BEAT. WANNA KNOW WHY? CAUSE I KNOW THAT IF THE SCRIP WAS FLIPPED SHE WOULD'VE DID THE SAME FOR ME WITHOUT ANY QUESTIONS ASKED. So in all honesty, and with all due respect, I really don't care what u do to me. If u give me detention, suspend me, expel me, or whatever u want. Just let me tell u this...... I will not apologize for what i did. They're are people suffering as we speak, from domestic violence. It's not ok and I personally will not accept it. Not if it happens to me, my best friend, my mother, or any of my family. He could've killed her if I didn't stop him. So I have no remorse for what I did, and that's just how I feel.

Mr. Wright-    Well Ms. Parker..... I couldn't agree with you more. If anything he probably deserved more because this isn't the first time he did this to a lady. I saw his file and he has a problem with keeping his hands to himself. So I'm not gonna punish you for doing the right thing. I know I'm not supposed to do this but, I'm not gonna approach this situation as a principal, but I'm gonna approach this situation as a father and and a husband. And as a father, this makes me want to go beat his ass myself. Now as a husband, this makes me want to cry because I didn't realize that domestic violence could happen to people your age. But this has opened my eyes to the subject at hand and it's scary. But I feel like everything he had coming, he definitely deserved it. I know you blacked out when this was happening so we can completely argue that you weren't really thinking. Trust me if he decides to press charges then you give me a call, cause before this, I was a state attorney but I quit so I could be a principal. So Ms. Parker, in substitute of a punishment, I will let you and your friend Ms. Miles have 2 weeks off from school and don't worry about your work I will take care of that. And I called yall parents so they could pick you up. The whole situation has been explained so I don't think you will have any problems with them. I appreciate you for being honest and being a good friend because that took a lot of courage, strength, and integrity. Also I hope you can have a good rest of your day. Thank you

After that I got up and gave Mr. Wright a hug. Then I left the office and went to the nurse's office to see Brianna. I explained what Mr. Wright said and what happened in his office. When I was done explaining, her eyes went wide. She was about to say something but quickly shut her mouth because of her jaw.

Nurse- Now Jasmine keep a eye on her because when he hit her jaw, he bruised her bone really bad. It's not broken, fractured, nor does she need surgery but I suggest that she doesn't talk for 2 weeks so the swelling can go down and so the bruise can heal. After those 2 weeks she can talk but she won't be able to speak a lot so just keep ice on it, keep some Tylenol near, and cut up all her foods very very small to reduce her from having to chew a lot. Also, have her drink from a straw. Her jaw should be back to normal in a month. So y'all have a good rest of the day and Brianna I'm going to call your mom later on to tell her the same information.

Brianna just nodded her head and jumped off the the little bed thing. She walked ahead of me with her head down and I instantly knew she was really sad about the whole thing. In all honesty I've never seen Brianna sad or depressed because she's that happy, turnt, joyful person. When she had that devastating breakup where her boyfriend dumped her the day before homecoming, she didn't even frown. All she said was "It must not have been meant to be, I saw it coming anyway" I knew she was lying and was just as surprised but still, she kept a smile on her face............
