The districts are very different from the capitol. They wear weird, boring clothing in shades of brown and green, the colors of throw-up. Here, in the capitol, we wear bright shades of blue, green, red, and of course, purple. Purple is my favorite color. Some people say I’m a little obsessed. My room has a beautiful, purple bed full of stuffing, so it shapes to my back for extra coziness. I have a purple dresser that gives me a new set of purple clothes everyday. I also have large, purple framed mirror covering one of my purple walls.
We used to have avoxes. An avox is a servant who doesn’t ever talk. I don’t really know why. People don’t have avoxes anymore, because they disappeared around the time of the rebellion. My avox had blond hair and blue eyes, just like me. She was a pretty girl around the age of 20 and back then I was 13. Now I am 15. She had a few freckles but other than that, she was beautiful. I didn’t know much about her but my mom, Effie Trinket, had one named Alexandra. What a boring name. my name is,” Peppy!" called my mother from downstairs.” its time for breakfast!"
"Ok, mom!" just then I threw my brush down, intending to use it later, and ran out of my door. I walked up to the stairs. They are spiral stairs with no railing. I always try to stay far away from the edge. I walked into the dining room to find my grandparents, parents, and siblings all sitting at the table eating crepes and stuffed French toast. My 2 sisters were crying for me. They do not want my name to get picked, and they can’t because they are only 9 and cannot be entered. To be selected for the "Capitol games" you have to be 12 to 18. I ate breakfast in silence. Everyone had tears in their eyes.
I then left the dining room. I went back up the dangerous stairs. I ran into my room. I forgot about the brush and threw my hair into a pony tail. I put on some jogging clothes, of course purple, and left my large house. I went for a jog around the best part of the Capitol, where I happen to life I ran towards FairvalePark. FairvalePark is the largest park in all of the Capitol, having a mile long field, play set, and a huge maze. I have almost memorized how to get through the entire maze, but one wrong move can mean an hour of trying to exit. I entered the maze. I first took a left, like I always do, then a right. I began going through the memorized routine. Right, right, left, right, left, left, right. I began to become unfamiliar with this section of the maze. I started running. I was trying to escape, but I was lost. I kept running and running until I finally saw a break in the hedges. I finally escaped the maze. This got me thinking. I don’t want to be in the "Capitol Games" I would probably be the first kill, because I couldn’t even get out of a little maze. Tears began to roll down my face. Today I can either go back to being a normal girl or my life will change, forever.
