It was a warm night, a light late summer breeze came throught the open window as Mairead lay in her bed. Her breath was shallow and uneven as her eyes darted visibly around under her darkened eyelids

Her dreams were vivid but they weren't filled with sharp images, they were contaminated with fear. as if something sinister was about to happen. The past days had been filled with so much exhaustation for her, that it had led to less enjoyfull dreams at night. Mairead wasn't really the kind of person who remembered her dreams when she woke up, and if she remembered them she would forget her dreams later. She had very little memory of the dreams she once had.

Her dream or rather nightmare consited of endless running in the dark while bright flashes of orange and red haunted her. It wasn't like she had an traumatic expierence with fire. She did remember that her kitchen once caught fire when her brother tried to cook for her and their father. Her father was a kind hard working man who taught her to follow her dreams and never give up and that nothing could stop her. The world was filled with sick twisted people, but seeing only bad everywhere would make it worse and wouldn't get you anywhere. so when Mairead was determinded, nothing could stop her. Almost nothing. 'Cause people are inclined to fail sometimes, but that doesn't mean that they should fail completely. They could still succeed for the biggest part of what they want. ' And those were his exact words.

Her dream probably did not mean that she was afraid of fire, it probably was some random way of stress. It had been a busy week at work for Mairead. Her boss wanted her to write more and more. You see Mairead was a journalist for a fashion magazine. It wasn't a famous one. It was more of a local magazine. Pretty boring actually but Mairead tried her best, but still her boss thought she didn't work hard enough so he had given her along lecture with consisted of almost an hour and then he made her do more work. He said that if she didn't come up with anything good for the next months edition, she would be fired. And althought her fiancé had a fairly good job, they could use the extra money. She loved Ethan more than anything. Ethan was there for her when her father had died and he had supported her in following her dreams. The two were planning on moving to New York. Mairead wanted to work for a bigger magazine. She hoped she could make her dream come true one day. But that dream needed a lot of work and effort besided her normal job.

So all the working had made her tired, but her nightmares didn't really help.   And when Mairead finally got out of her long lasting nightmare and fell into a soft peacefull sleep a deep nerve racking sound flew throught the air. Her eyes flew wide open and Mairead slumped towards the living room were the phone was ringing. With her eyes half open and her mind half asleep she picked it up.

''Mairead Lowis.'' Said the young woman kinda annoyed, because who would call so late. It was 2 am in the freaking morning and Mairead hoped for the other person on the line that they had a good reason to call. She hoped it wasn't Ethan. What if something had happened? She shook off that thought, he was fine. It couldn't be because he was working nightshifts every Tuesday and Wednesday and he sure as hell wouldn't forget that it was night he wasn't stupid.
Perhaps it was some stupid adverd guy who tried to sell her something. Those guys called at the weirdest times.

Mairead was right that it wasn't Ethan. But it was about him thought.

And what was said on the other side of the phone made her heart skip a beat.
