There I was. In the beautiful long white dress standing next to my dad, waiting to walk down the aisle. My daughter had just gone down the aisle with her little cousin who she pulled in a wagon, while throwing flower petals all over as she walked. Then it was my turn. I turned to hook arms with my dad and then turned to walk down the aisle. The music begins to play and the doors open. There he is. I can do this just don't trip. I focus on him as I walk with the goal of walking to him without falling face first. Which I succeeded at. Well almost. I did trip at the very end but he was there to catch me and pull me to my feet in front of him. "You okay there, klutz?" he asks. "Yeah, now." I replied quietly as the priest begins to speak. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of go, and in the face of this company, to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony. Into this holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined. If any man can show just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter for ever hold his peace." This was the time. We were actually about to get married. I couldn't believe it. The priest then turns to him and says "I've been told that you have your own vows." "Yes we do." he replies while pulling a small piece of paper from his pocket. He continues to begin his vows, "You amaze me. Every dy. Everything that you do. Everything that you are. These past years I realized that I don't know a lot more than I thought I knew. If that makes sense." He stops for a second and turns to the audience, "Sorry, I'm a little nervous! I didn't think I would be." And with that he turns to look back at me. "What I'm trying to say is that I don't know a lot. But I know that I love you. And I want to be with you. Forever! Which is why today is the happiest day of my life. We're getting married! Sorry I just had to say that. I love you so much and I can't wait for us to spend the rest of our lives together as husband and wife. And as a family." With that he slides the ring onto my finger and then it is my turn. "Well I don't know how I'm going to top that. But I just wanted to thank you for always being there for me. Through the stress of our last two years of high school. Through all of the college classes that I had to take. Through the pregnancy because we all know how hard I was to deal with. And for everything that you are going to do for me and our little family in the future. Even though you already said it, I love you and I know that our life is the one that I was meant to live. I don't know what I would do without you so I'm happy that I'll always have you by my side. Here comes forever!" I then slid the ring onto his finger. Finally the priest says the words that I had been waiting to hear. "You may now kiss the bride." He then dipped me and we kissed. That was the best day of my life. One that I will remember forever.
