I walked out into the star filled night. The music blaring in my ears. I lay down onto the damp grass. I needed to get away from the popular group. Ever since I became a 9th grader at Alexander High School, I have been faking my popularity. It was easy, I just needed to work bro in to every sentence. "Hey, Jake, what you doing out here? You know the party is inside dummy." Perri has been my next door neighbor since I can even remember. She could be a cool kid if she wanted to. But she mostly likes to lay low and read in her spare time. "Do you remember when we layed down on here in this exact spot, and day dreamed." I looked over to Perri, she smiled, then she smirked. "Yeah, I remember! This is where we got married when we were seven!" I chuckled to myself. Perri and I had sent out invites to all of our stuffed animals, we even had tea. Perri came over to me, laying her hands onto my chest. I take a deep breath, and exhale. For a second I watched as the fog from my breath twisted and turned before disappearing into nothingness. "Hey, um... Jake." I looked from the stars to her face. Even after all this time I still had a crush on her. "Yeah?" "promise...promise you will always be my friend." "Sure." Perri starts to stand up. "No, Jake I'm serious." I sigh, once again watching my breath appear and disappear. I look straight into her eyes. "Perri, I promise you I will always be your friend." She looks away, and back to the stars. "Jake." My heart starts to race. "Yeah?" She steps back. Looking at something in the distance. "Its her. JAKE. " She says in a panic. I stand up defensively. "Hey, Jake, looking as sexy as ever." I turn back to Perri, she's okay, but she is shivering. Not a good sign. "Oliva, why did you come? You weren't invited." I felt Perri's face dig, into my back and her arms wrap around me. "I wanted  to see you." She said with a pouty face. "Marissa!" I yell. She nods and heads my way. Sometimes, being popular has its perks.

I sit her down on my bed. "I know I have it somewhere." When Perri and were nine, she started to have some serious panic attacks. So her mother gave me medication. "Found it!" Stay still, don't move. Perri gives me a soft smile, as I jab the needle into her thigh.
