Chapter 1: The new girl

Jess POV

I just moved in, a day or two ago and I was sat by my window when I saw someone leaving the house next door. I wasn't really ready to go make new friends but when I saw him coming to my door I had no choice but to drag myself downstairs.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"Coming!" I yell, skipping the last few steps as I run to get the door.
When I opened the door I saw a young teen with purple hair, younger than me but taller.
"Hi, my names Evan are you new here?"
"Yes" I replied inviting him in but he refused.
"Um, Lord Kris wanted to see you, do you know why?"
I frowned, why did the Lord of Terra want to see a peasant like me?
"Can I take you to him? He doesn't like waiting."
I let Evan take my arm and drag me to the large mansion in the middle of the Kingdom known as terra. We were greeted by two guards, who opened up the wide doors for us, before ushering us in. Suddenly I saw a young man walking down the stairs, blue hair framing his pale face and his eyes the exact same colour. "Jessica, right?"
"Yes"
He motioned for me to follow before shooing Evan out, mumbling something about wanting to talk alone. He led me to a room upstairs where i was greeted by another young man, this time with orangey eyes and fluffy brown hair.
"Is this her kris?" He asked, turning to the blue haired Lord next to me.
"Yes Rudy it's her."
The both looked at me for a second before Kris began.
"Look, call me crazy but have you ever experienced yourself using magic before, or are you aware of any special powers you may have?" He asked, face flushing with embarrassment.
"N-no! Why!" I yelled backing away, I definitely thought Kris was mad now.
"Hey hey! Don't look scared Jessica we mean no harm, it's just..." Rudy began, before Kris shushed him, covering his mouth with one hand.
"Look, it's a secret to most, but me and rudy contain shards of dark energy inside us, that react when power is present, in fact they react to each other as well. But, ever since you moved in close by, they have not stopped reacting since..." Kris paused and Rudy continued for him
"We wanted to ask for your help Jessica, as it is very important that we gather the other owners of these shards."
"The seven knights?" I asked trying to take all this in.
"Yes" said Kris, before he was cut off again by Rudy. "A dangerous presence is here, lurking and we need you to help us to try and unite the other knights, or the consequences could be catastrophic. You obviously contain power, even if you haven't found it yet, or our fragments would not be reacting like this."
"Please Jess" said Kris as he stepped forwards.
"Yes, if this is true, then I will do my very best to help you guys unite the others and save Asgar."
They started thanking me lots before we turned our minds to more important things.
"So, who do we find first."
Rudy asked, nuzzling against Kris as we all sat on the bed.
"Let's try for the more, ummm, passive knights first shall we? So that means we should start with Eileen or Rachel." Kris said, stroking along rudys soft hair absent mindedly, I wondered if he knew he was doing it.
"Why not start with the harder ones to recruit?" I asked suddenly mentally laughing at Kris and his shocked face.
"Why would we do that?" Said rudy, his eyes extremely curious.
"To like I dunno, get them out the way. We don't know when this danger will strike, so surely getting the more powerful bit aggressive ones will benefit us?" I explained "

She has a point Kris" yawned rudy, who was falling asleep against Kris.
"B-but that means we have to go see Dellons, Spike and Jave first, and that's not my idea of fun." Said Kris, his head hanging.
"Nobody said this would be fun!" I said, pushing a finger against Krissy's nose.
"Boop!"
Kris grumbled, before he looked down at rudy, who was nearly asleep.
"Roo, Roo... ROO!" Kris yelled, shaking rudy violently.
"Wha-what I'm awake!" rudy yawned, his eyes still half closed and he snuggled more into Kris. I giggled, they were so cute!
Kris sighed
"Rest well rudy, because we are paying the grim reaper a visit" He said, before wrapping a blanket round rudys shoulders and turning back to me.
"Jessica fetch your weapons. We are leaving. I will have a horse saddled for you at the gate, meet me there in five minutes and don't you dare be late.

When I arrived at the gate Kris was already there on his horse, a sleeping rudy hugging tight to his back. He motions for me to get onto my horse too, before sending his dark black stallion into a gallop, leading the snowy white horse he was leading for rudy when he woke behind him. I ushered my cherry red horse into a gallop too, before rushing after hum and into the deep forest surrounding terra.
After a while Kris was yawning too, and we had to stop and set camp, before he fell off his horse in fatigue. Unpacking the tent that we'd brought, as Kris refused to sleep in the cold or on the floor, I watched him softly pull rudy off his horse, careful not to wake him, and carry him close against his chest, waiting for the tent to be pitched. I sighed before setting everything up, and helping Kris get the sleeping rudy into one of the sleeping bags. Soon I was sleeping too, and the only one awake was Kris.

Kris POV

I waited for everyone to be asleep before I went to fetch my own sleeping bag, suddenly I realised that, upon inspection of my stuff, I didn't have it. I was wondering what to do about it when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned, only to see rudy next to me, concern written across his face.
"Are you okay Kris?" He whispered.
"I left my sleeping bag at home so I was just wondering what to do."
Rudy was silent, before he turned to me, and I swear he was blushing.
"Y-you could share mine..."
I felt blood running to me cheeks and it took all my strength to not blush and keep a straight face. I didn't have any clue what to say, as the thought of spending an entire night, pressed against rudys warmth sounded amazing, but I couldn't tell him that. And the few times he slept in my bed back in terra, was when I was ill, and he was caring for me, as I was closer to him than my parents.
"Are you sure?" I asked him, taking in his now bright flushed face, as he pulled my arm wordlessly dragging me over to his sleeping bag.
"Please?" He asked and I nodded, before I helped him in and then settled down in the bag with him. The space was small, but not too small. It was small enough that I had to stay pressed against him, his head against my shoulders as he cuddled closer, but not so small we were squashed. I gently started running my fingers through his hair again, whispering softly to him and holding him in my arms until we were both asleep...
