We had heard about the Wilsons. Our pumpkin family will never forget the day the humans next door came walking over, wanting to get 3 pumpkins. This was normal. We did not know the horror of every Halloween. We didn't know the fates of all those poor pumpkins who perished by death of carver or oven. The humans strolled past the countless rows of corn, then stopped at the pumpkin patch. They stopped by our row and picked up Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and also their housemaid, Ms. Lyson. The next day, news spread through the pumpkin patch of the Wilsons.

The tomatoes first saw the horrendous fates of the Wilsons. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were hollow. Pumpkin guts were splattered over the table. They looked through the window and saw a pumpkin pie cooling on the windowsill, apparently Ms. Lyson's fate.

Life has been hard since then. We all still face the terror of being baked or carved. I was once almost carved. That was 3 years ago...
