Lucien woke up early. He checked around for Ganta but it turned out he had to take a trip to the infirmary. He decided he'd go there and check up on his friend. He entered the infirmary and found him talking to another prisoner.
"Hey." Lucien said.
Ganta looked back and waved at him.
"What's goin on?" Lucien asked.
"I was just talking to Yo." Ganta said.
"Yo?" Lucien asked.
"Me." The guy in the bed said.
"Oh, well, nice to meet you Yo." Lucien said.
"Same here." Yo said.
All of a sudden they heard a vent and Shiro peeked out from the roof, causing all three men to freak out.
"A VAMPIRE!" Yo shouted.
"No, I'm Ganta and Lucien's friend." Shiro said.
Everyone calmed down and Shiro came down from the vent.
"Hey Lucien, Ganta, we should join the race!" Shiro said.
"The race?" Ganta asked.
"Yeah, it's supposed to be a challenge to test your athleticism by dodging various obstacles." Shiro said.
"Oh, I think she means the Dog Race."
"Huh?" Lucien said.
"It's exactly what she said but the winner get's 100,000 cast points." Yo said.
"Cast points?" Ganta asked.
"You really are new here huh?" Yo said, "cast points are Deadman Wonderland's currency, without them you can't even eat. You could buy food, smokes, even alcohol and if you save up you could buy candy for 100,000 cast points." Yo said.
"That's great but I'm not very athletic." Ganta said.
"Well I'm a- GAK- I'm more athletic than you." Satsujin said, forcefully taking over.
"Lucien, what happened? Why is your voice so much deeper?" Shiro said.
"I'm not Lucien, I'm Satsujin. Lucien is has a split personality and I'm the one who helped him get in here." Satsujin said.
"That makes sense." Yo said.
A bandage flew by and Shiro came over, wrapped in bandages.
"Either way, I'm not joining." Satsujin said crossing his arms.
As soon as he said that Ganta's stomach grumbled and he became the source of attention.
"You still get sweet bean buns for participating." Yo said.
"We're in!" Shiro and Ganta said In unison.
"Fine, we'll go too." Satsujin said.
"YAY!" Shiro shouted.
Shiro dragged the two of them out and they went to the sign ups.
"Shiro stop pushing me." Ganta said.
"Bean bun, bean bun!" Shiro said and ran off.
"I can see why Lucien likes her..." Satsujin mumbled to himself.
