Jess eventually got up and went out to search for her stuff, she had left in a cave the previous night. As she walked out she saw Dave chopping wood, for the fire she assumed. She tried to go back the way she came but after about twenty minutes of unsuccessful searching she made her way back to Dave's cabin. Jessica went out to get food with his dog, Daisy, to get food for them eat. Dave made them food when she got back. And they talked after dinner and she was sleepy so she went to sleep. Sometime while she slept she felt as if someone was watching her. She looked up to see if anyone was and Dave was there staring at her while she slept, like nothing was wrong with staring at people while they slept. "What the heck, Dave!!! Why are you watching me sleep??!!" Jessica yelled ambivalently.
He just shrugged and said, "Why not?"
Jessica's eyes were wide and she got up to leave and he stepped in front of the door and said, "Where do you think you're going?" He said curtly, as his rough callused hands balled into and out of fists, and his head twitched to the right. Jessica stuttered trying to answer. "Well. Jessica. Where do you think you're going to go?"
"Out-t-t-t," Jessica stuttered.
"Out-t-t-t where?" Dave mocked her condescendingly. Jessica shrank down into her frame walked away from him. "That's what I thought," Dave said. For the next few days they sat in silence and he gave her food and she'd go to sleep. One night, after dinner Jessica stayed up until Dave went to sleep and snuck out. She ran as far as she could and once she felt she was far enough she found a nice tree and went to sleep... Dave woke to find Jessica was gone. "Daisy," he barked, "go find Jessica." He said with a look of malice in his eyes. Dave and Daisy went out to find Jessica... Jessica woke to the sound of barking. "Oh, shoot." She started to run again and Dave caught sight of her, "GO Daisy, GO!" Daisy, the pitbull, runs after Jessica, while Dave limps after them. Her heart pounded and breathing fast as Jessica ran as fast she could away from them. She couldn't think all she could was run, run as far as she could. When he finally caught up to them, he grabbed Jessica by the hair, she cringed from knowing some of her hair was ripped out like weeds out of the ground, and he said, "Do that again and you're dead." ... A few days later Jessica runs again. "Anything is better than being here," she thought. That was the last anyone saw of Jessica.
