Chapter 1
"Jackson, hurry up! I want to play before I die!" I look at the stairs as I hear loud footsteps racing down the stairs towards the den where I'm watching for Jackson. My brother, Jackson, hops on the couch next to me and grabs the x-box remote sitting on the coffee table. "Why do I get the shitty remote and you get the new one?" he complains. "Maybe if you didn't spend a million years upstairs emptying the fridge, I would have given you the new remote!" I reply with a smirk on my face. Jackson lightly punched me in the arm and began the round when I wasn't paying attention.
A hour and a half later we had played almost 20 rounds in which I won exactly 1. I forgot how good my big bro was at video games. We were getting ready to change the game to super smash brawl when my dad called us upstairs for dinner. One look at Jackson and I had jumped off the couch to race him up the stairs. I fell right when I reached the top. I looked up to see Jackson with and running towards the kitchen. After dinner I was so going to get him back. We cleared the table and I set the food out. Mom had cooked Jackson's favorite food, chicken and broccoli casserole. Just the smell was making me hungry but once we sat down, I could barley manage a bite before I felt sick. "What's wrong, honey?" my mom asked. "Nothing. Just a bit of an upset sick." " Well, just sit down and relax. We don't want you to end up throwing up at the table." Mom brought out chocolate pie, whip cream, and medicine for me. I quickly took the medicine so I could have some pie. After mom and dad left the table, I got a handful of whipped cream and smeared it all over Jackson's perfect hair. "Hey! What the hell is wrong with you?!" he screamed with a smile on his face. His beautiful green eyes were twinkling with mischief. "Next time you won't trip me in order to win, will you?" I ran out but before I reached the door he threw a piece of pie at me and it landed perfectly on top of my head. " You jerk! Rose is coming over for a sleep over tonight!" Rose is my best friend in the whole world and we were almost always at each other's house. I have known her since seventh grade and she has always been there for me. She was there the most during this past year and helped with my traumatic experience and depression. I had met this guy named Austin when I was 15 and not even a month later we were going out. He was great and we were perfect! everything was going amazing until two months he was killed in a drunk driver accident he was the drunk driver. I had completely lost it when I found out he had died. Any way, I raced up stairs into my room to grab a pair of clean clothes and a towel for a super quick shower.
About 30 minutes later I had finished my shower and was looking out my window waiting for rose to drive up. I felt like there was someone behind me. I turned around and Jackson was standing at my doorway. "What do you want now Jackson?" "Nothing just wanted to steal something from you." He started walking towards me and turned me around. I felt him place his arms around me. My body tensed up when I had a flashback.
*two years ago*
Austin had asked me to the first high school dance of the year and of course I had said yes. He was the perfect image of a guy. Tall, well-built, blond, blue-eyed, and sweet (at first). We were dancing to the newest music until a slow dance came on. He had held me the same exact way Jackson was. Austin and I just swayed back and forth until the song ended. He turned me around and I got my first kiss.
*End of flashback*
"Jackson, STOP!" I was starting to shake. Jackson quickly backed off when my breathing started getting shallow. "Callie, I need you to slowly breathe in and out. Can you do that for me?" I started to breathe slowly and carefully. I closed my eyes and started to feel better. *Beep beep*. Rose must have just locked her car. When I opened my eyes, Jackson was gone. I ran in the bathroom to make sure there was no evidence of my panic attack. I walked down the stairs to the front door. Slowly, I opened the door and rose ran in to give me a big hug. " I haven't seen you since like two years ago!" Rose liked to exaggerate. " Rose, we went shopping yesterday. Remember?" "Of course I do! but that was yesterday!"
I woke up and felt tired still. Rose and I ended up staying awake until 2 am. I glanced at my alarm clock and saw it read 6 am. "Ugh." I groaned as quietly as possible. I felt like shit and ran into the bathroom. I was luckily I got there when I did because I had emptied every thing I ate last night. I felt someone start to hold my hair back. I started to look to see who it was but I threw up more of my stomach contents. Once I finally finished I turned around to see Jackson looking at me with a mix of disgust and concern. He helped me clean up and stayed with me until I felt better.
