Alright, this is only going to be really short because it's a prologue.
The chapters following it will be longer and more descriptive, I promise. :)

My eyes scanned the room, spending a few moments on each of the five boys in the room. Harry. Niall. Liam. Louis. Zayn. These boys were my best friends. My happiness. The only thing that managed to put a smile on my face even when the world was shattering around me. And they were going to be gone just the next day. Away from me.
I looked down at my lap, picking at a loose thread on my jeans. The boys were all intrigued in a conversation. It almost felt like they forgot I was even there. I cleared my throat as I glanced up once more. “When will you be back?”
Not a single head turned. Instead they just kept talking about whatever it was that was just so important. Shouldn’t they be paying attention to me, I thought. This was our last night together. But yet, they were treating it just like any other night.
I let out a loud cough before sighing. “When will you be back?” I repeated, this time in a yell. There was a hint of annoyance on my voice.
Harry turned his head my way, giving me an irritated eye roll. “About a year, okay? We’re in the middle of discussing something. Hold on.” And with that, he turned his head again and continued talking.
A year?! His words echoed in the back of my head. My heart ached and my stomach churned. I felt like I was about to get sick as I let my eyes scan the boys once again. I wouldn’t get to see those faces for a year. I wouldn’t be able to be comforted by any of them for a year. I would be alone. For a year.
I held on, just as Harry told me to do so. I waited for as long as my body let me. My eyes fixed on the clock. I waited. Ten minutes. Twenty. Thirty. Soon enough, a whole two hours had passed with the boys acting as if I was nonexistent.
I slowly rose to my feet, tucking a strand of brunette hair behind my ear. They didn’t seem to notice my movement. My knees began to tremble and I felt nauseous. How could they do this to me on out last night together? I gave it a few minutes before spinning angrily on my heel and stomping toward the door. I pulled it open and took a quick step outside.
“Emma, wait!” called out a husky voice from inside. It was Harry.
No, I thought to myself. I had been waiting for over two hours. I wasn’t going to wait for you anymore. I let my other foot find its way outside before slamming the door loudly behind myself.
With that, I disappeared into the night.
The next day came and went and they were gone.
