Snakekit woke up to feel himself comforted in his mother's belly fur. He yawned before snuggling back up, only to feel a paw prod him in the side. "Snakekit! Get up! I wanna go outside but Mom wont let me without you!" His sister, Flowerkit, complained. My eyes are still shut! He realized as he lifted his head and all he saw was black. He streached his eyes open wide and gasped as he saw his mothers bright fur, and his own brown tabby, and his sister's cream and white. Why don't i look like them? He wondered. Are my eyes blue? or green? Staring at his mother and sister's eyes. "Yay! You opened your eyes! Mom, can we go out now?" Flowerkit asked, staring up with her deep emerald green eyes."Of course, now keep in sight of Birchflame! I asked him to watch you, understand?" She mewed to them. "Yes mom" They said together. "Lets go!" Flowerkit yowled, charging out the nursery entrance, kicking up dust behind her. "Wait for me!" Snakekit protested, racing after her. WOW! Snakekit thought, staring around the stone hollow. "There's Lionstar!" Flowerkit breathed, staring at the massive golden tom talking to the ginger and russet tom. "I think thats... Emberpelt?" Snakekit guessed, looking at the other tom. "He's deputy!" Flowerkit exclaimed. "Hi Flowerkit, Hi Snakekit!" A voice mewed, and Snakekit whipped his head around, only to spot a tortoise-shell she-cat with a gray muzzle approaching him. Morningfur! She's My mother's Sister! Snakekit thought, staring up at her. "Im Morningfur," The she-cat mewed. "Blazingheart, your Mother is my sister" Morningfur purred. "Im an elder, wanna meet Limepelt?" She asked, flicking her tail towards the elders den. "Lets go then!" Snakekit mewed excitedly. "All right, c'mon!" Morningfur mewed before racing into the den, with the kits at her tail. The bright-silver elder was sitting in his nest, his light green eyes watching them. "Well hello there." Limepelt mewed. "Your names are... Snakekit and Petalkit?" He said flicking his tail to Snakekit and Flowerkit. "My names not Petalkit, Flowerkit," She mewed impatiently, "Your Limepelt right?" She ended, looking up at him. "Yep that's my name." He mewed, "So... where's your father?" He asked, only to be glared at by Morningfur. Morningfur leaned over and whispered quickly and quietly into Limepelt's ear then his gaze changed to seriousness. "We don't know yet." Snakekit replied, exchanging a glance with Flowerkit. "Well you'll find out soon" He answered with a sigh. "How about you go talk to Dewpaw or Snowpaw?" Limepelt suggested, flicking his tail towards the Apprentices' Den. "Okay!" The both mewed happily before racing out of the den.
