The Restaurant
“Come on boys, get in the car,” George said, rounding up the fluffy bundles that were Dan, Michael and Ben (better known as AB). A play fight and a bucket of KFC later, they were in.
“So, the signing starts at two and it’s currently one-thirty,” George informed the boys sitting in the back.
“That was nothing to do with me!” Michael exclaimed playfully.
“I’m pretty sure you’re the only one who wouldn’t shower until Despicable Me had finished…” Ben pointed out.
By four ‘o’ clock the signing was over. The boys tumbled back into the car. “George? Can we get some food? I’m absolutely starving,” Dan whined. George sighed, not wanting to give in, but he didn’t want to deal with Dan when he was hungry.
“OK, I’ll find somewhere. Might as well eat out tonight anyway… There’s nothing back at the house.” A few minutes later, the car pulled up to a restaurant; nothing fancy but it looked welcoming. They all got out of the car, walked through the doors and stood waiting to be seated.
“Hello, I’m Morgan. Table for four?” the young waitress enquired. Saying the three teenage boys were somewhat aroused would have been an understatement. Michael took the first opportunity. “Yes, Morgan, that would be great,” he said, finishing his sentence with a wink. Morgan blushed and quickly went behind the desk to collect the menus. “Hey!” Ben whispered, hitting Michael, “she’s mine!”
“Sorry man, I kinda just called it”
“You did nothing,” Dan interrupted, “and besides, she’s mine!”
George sighed and buried his face in the palm of his hand. He really wasn’t in the mood for a fight over a girl. Before anything else could be said, Morgan returned. “This way please.”
Morgan led them to a booth in the corner. She handed each of them a menu, then left to go to the kitchen. Another one of the waitresses was waiting for her orders to be served up. “Hey, Sophia, look at the guys I’m serving!” The other waitress poked her head out the door and scanned the room until she saw the boys and George sitting in the corner. “No offence or anything, but I think he’s a bit old for you,” Sophia joked upon seeing George.
“Omg no, but they’re so cute! One of them has an Irish accent! Did you hear that? An Irish accent!” Morgan explained, trying to contain her excitement.
“Well, if you want a chance, it’s no use standing here. Go and take their orders!” Sophia said, pushing Morgan out into the dining area.
Having no boyfriend experience, Morgan didn’t know what could happen. Just play it cool, she thought.
“Can I get you any drinks?” she asked, leaving her notepad in her pocket. This was her time to impress. The guys ordered drinks and starters; Morgan made a mental note.
“Are you not going to write that down or something?” Michael asked.
“No, I can remember it,” Morgan replied.
“Let us order our mains as well, and if you remember it all, Dan over here will tip you an extra tenner,” Ben grinned towards Dan, who clearly did not want to pay that money. After ordering main courses as well, the attention was brought back to Morgan. Without haste, she recited the order entirely. “Looks like someone has to dig out some cash…”
The dishes made their way out the kitchen and onto the tables speedily, but leaving enough time for Morgan to inform Sophia of any advances.
“Ok, so the blond one is Welsh and the one who looks like a sexy vampire has an even sexier voice and the Irish one, oh my days!” Morgan babbled. “Anyway, I need to get their dessert orders. I also need to get their numbers…”
“Rock, paper, scissors; this is the only way to settle this,” Dan declared.
“You’re all being so childish about this, it would be a miracle if she wanted to go out with any of you,” George said. He was getting tired.
“She’s coming back!” Ben exclaimed, sitting up straight.
“Would you like to order dessert” Morgan asked. The guys nodded. “Ok, what would you like?”
“You on this table” Michael muttered under his breath. A waitress passing behind him heard and gave Morgan the ‘he wants you’ look. The orders were taken in; the desserts were brought out and quickly finished, leaving nothing on the table but empty glasses and the bill. By this time, George was itching to go home and sleep. The boys, however, were not. After all pitching together for the bill, the three boys dug deeper into their wallets to tip Morgan. They left the money on the plate, thanked Morgan for her service and left.
“Thank you very much, I’ll certainly be eating here again,” Ben said to Morgan, holding the stare.
“So will I!” Dan and Michael chirped in at the same time. George had to physically drag them out the door. Morgan turned back to the table to clear the glasses and collect the tips. Not only did she find she had been tipped more than a little generously, but she also found she had been left with three phone numbers…
