PROLOGUE
He looked at me with his signature cold stare. I feel frozen. Hindi ko maigalaw yung katawan ko sa sobrang nerbiyos ko.
"Talk" Sabi niya in his authorative voice.
One word from him feels like a death sentence for me. Hindi ko alam pero kahit na kinakabahan ako eh nagawa ko pang magsalita. He's scary, that's why.
"May sasabihin akong importante sayo, Marco." I began. My voice is shaky, even my hands are shaking like crazy. Kahit na katamtaman lang yung lamig dito sa office niya, parang nasa antartica na ako sa sobrang panginginig ko. Jeez, hindi naman ako ganito. But it changes everytime I'm with him.
"What is it?" Sumandal siya sa swivel chair niya, still his face has no emotions. He fixed his eyes on mine. Lalo tuloy akong kinabahan at pinagpawisan. I swallowed the remaining pride I have, making my heartbeat increased rapidly every millisecond.
I placed my right hand on my tummy, I saw him stare at it for a while. Mabilis niya ring iniwas yung tingin niya, almost making me laugh.
Alright, here goes nothing.
Instead of saying another word, I stood up from my seat. Nagsimula akong maglakad palapit sa kaniya. He's just staring at me the whole time. Ang tanging nakaharang lang sa pagitan namin ay yung table. Pagkalapit ko sa table niya, I reached out for his hand.
His eyes widen in shock, halatang nabigla siya sa ginawa ko.
"What are you doing?" Hindi naman siya nagpupumiglas. Kung ayaw niya, he could've just get his hand back. Which he didn't.
Instead of answering him, I placed his hand on my tummy. I looked at him in the eyes,
"I have cancer..."
"WHAT?!" Kinuha niya kaagad yung kamay niya saka siya nagmadaling lumapit sa akin.
In just mere seconds, I'm already encircled by his hug.
"Pfft! Ahahahaha!!!" Oh my god, I can't stop laughing! Wow this is really epic. Hinarap niya ako, puno ng pagtataka ang mga mata niya. Ahaha!
"Are you insane, Chelsea?! Why are you laughing?! You have cancer for christ sake! Damn it! Why didn't you tell me anything?!"
"Woah! Full-blown na masyado yang english mo, kalma ka lang Marco"
"Kalma?! How can I calm down when my wife has cancer?! Damn, are you out of your mind?!"
He combed his hair by using his fingers. Galit nanaman siya. *Sigh*
Nagulat na lang ako nung bigla niya akong hinila palapit sa kaniya. My eyes widen in shock, his arms are encircled around my waist while my head rested against his chest.
I can't help but to smile.
Hinampas ko gamit yung palad ko yung kaliwang balikat niya. "Aray!"
Di pa rin ako umaalis sa yakap niya, instead, I encircled my arms around his waist also.
"I'm lying."
Bibitaw na sana siya pero hinigpitan ko yung yakap ko sa kaniya. "Ano?" Gulat niyang tanong.
"The thruth is, we're having a baby."
