To Julie; From Emma:

I need you. Now!

To Emma; From Julie:

I figured…I’m on my way.

“Okay, spill.” Commanded Julie as she grabbed a handful of Cheetos and collapsed on my bed. I sighed dramatically.

“Draiden asked me to the dance.” I replied dryly. Julie dropped her Cheetos, her mouth falling open.

“Watch it!” I exclaimed, “I just cleaned!”

“Draiden asked you to the dance!?” Julie nearly screamed. I shushed her.

“Yes. Calm down.” I instructed, but it was too late. She was already gone.

“Do you know what this means?” she asked me excitedly, “Maybe I was right! Maybe the potion worked! Maybe I did give it to Draiden!”

“What? I thought we’d decided we’d given it to Bryce!”

“Oh, come on. What else could have brought on Draiden’s sudden interest in you?” she asked me, “No offense.”

“None taken,” I muttered sarcastically, “I don’t know, it wasn’t like that. We just started talking and we just kind of…bonded. It wasn’t weird or unnatural, he seemed perfectly normal!”

“Yeah. I know. That’s how the potion works,” she reminded me, “It’s not like mind control or anything. It grows like a normal relationship would. The more you know about each other, the more you’ll grow to like each other. The potion just plants the seed of affection,” she explained.

I sighed, more confused than ever.

“Then how do you explain Bryce?” I asked her, “His feelings just seemed to pop out of the blue!”

“Well, think about it,” she said logically, “Bryce knows you a lot better than Draiden does. If he took the drink, then of course it’ll affect him more harshly!”

I sighed. The dance was tomorrow! I’d received two invites and had been unable to accept either of them because of the stupid potion!

“I need the antidote,” I said after a moment.

“Okay,” said Julie, “I can do that, but…” she paused, “You have to be sure that it’s really what you want. You have to decide who you want, because we won’t be able to make this potion again. Once, they take the antidote, we’re back to square one.”

“Give the antidote to Bryce!” I replied instantly, “I like Draiden!”

“Are you sure?” Julie pressed, “You and Bryce just seem so…natural.”

“That’s how the potion works, remember?” I said, mocking her slightly, “Julie, give the potion to Bryce.”

         She sighed, but nodded.

“Thank you,” I said seriously, “Now, if you’ll excuse me…I have to call my date!” I added with a giggle. This was going to be epic.
