It was terrifying.

A swarm of snapping fish Pokemon moving towards us in a frenzy of snapping jaws and sharp fins. One landed in the raft and that's when we all got our senses back. Pidgey took to the air, knocking away opponents with Gust. Another aimed for my face, and claws slashed him away and sent him squealing into the river. I turned around to see Charmander, his claws twice as long as usual.

"Thanks." He smiled and continued to use Scratch on flying Basculin. Zoura opened his mouth and a orb of shadowy darkness formed. It crackled with energy and he let go. Shadow Ball flew into a group of enemies and exploded, sending Pokemon everywhere. The Basculin who had first landed in the boat had flopped over to Snivy, who was using Vine Whip on a particularly tenacious Basculin. Before it could use Bite however, a jet of water blasted it away.

"You owe me big time! You SO owe me big time!" chanted Kip happily. Three Pokemon came at him at once, and Snivy used Leaf Tornado, washing them away in a barrage of leaves.

"Let's call it even." He said with a nervous smile. I saw Zoura was being overwhelmed with the Basculin; I felt the familiar surge of energy, and focused it. A barrage of sparkling stars shot away from me, and took out seven Pokemon at once. You had to love Swift.

"There's too many!" Pidgey yelled, his wings glowing with energy as he used Wing Attack.

"You're just realizing this now?!" Snivy snapped back, slashing fish away with her tail. I chomped down on scaly green hide and gagged as I threw it into the river. They were everywhere now, and we were surrounded.

"Char, we need a distraction!" I called, batting away another foe. He nodded and smoke began to pour from his mouth. It filled the air around us and I heard Pidgey yell, "I got an idea! Snivy, Kip, move to the back and Snivy hold Mudkip!"

Snivy looked like she had just been slapped. "I'm not exactly the nurturing type." She called.

"SNIVY!" She growled.

"Fine." The two moved through the melee and Snivy grabbed Kip with her arms.

"Everyone, grab onto something! Kip, Water Gun, NOW!" He called and tucked his wings in and landed in the boat. A stream of water gushed from Kip's mouth and propelled our craft like a motor boat, plowing over Basculin in our wake. We left the fish far behind as our raft came up to a curve in the river.

"Brakes, brakes, BRAKES!" Yelled Pidgey as we hit the bend and went flying.
